This article focuses mainly on strike action in the South African mining industry. Remarkably, without conflict, strikes cannot exist, which indicates the interrelatedness between ‘strike action’ and ‘conflict’. Labour disputes and resulting disruptions have been the main contributory factor to the mining industry's record low production figures over the past five years. It is notable that before the 1994 elections, the majority of strikes were politically inspired and hence little focus was placed on the employees' needs.

In a day to day practice dentists are facing many problems. One of the common problems is separation of an instrument. The purpose of this article is to create awareness among the practising dentists for the retrieval of the separated instrument that may occur as procedural error during performing endodontic treatment. Review and the case report described here shows successful retrieval of broken instrument that may be tightly wedged in dentine of the root canal.

Background: Mental health legislation is essential for complementing and reinforcing mental health policy and providing a legal framework for meeting its goals. Such legislation can protect human rights, enhance the quality of mental health services and promote the integration of persons with mental disorders into communities.

Caries in the pit and fissures of occlusal surfaces of primary and permanent dentition is a significant dental health problem. Since pit and fissures lead to the retention of food on the occlusal surfaces of teeth which in turn cause dental caries. Dental sealants are cost effective treatment modalities when placed on teeth of children at high risk for dental caries. The cariostatic properties of sealants are attributed to the physical obstruction of the pits and fissures. Sealants are still underused despite their documented efficacy and the availability of clinical practice guidelines.

Objective: To assess the nutritional status of term appropriate for gestational age Turkish and refugees neonates at birth using the Clinical Assessment of Nutritional Status Scorein identifying fetal malnutrition (FM) in term neonates. Methods: The study was conducted on AGA singleton neonates delivered 37–42 weeks of gestation at a NICU without severe perinatal illness. The ponderal index (PI) and Clinical Assessment of Nutritional Status Score were calculated. Results: Two hundred and forty-one neonates were analyzed.

Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is a polyphagous pest insect of wide distribution and observed in Brazil for the first time in 2013. The population control of H. armigera can be affected by using sex pheromones that is a product of glandular synthesis and secretion, whose location and morphology show heterogeneity according to the group. Considering that there are few studies on the glandular structure in H. armigera, we have analyzed the morphology its sex pheromone gland, revealing its anatomical position.

Aim of the study: Is to assess the physical health after discharge from ICU Background: Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are specialized units for providing care to critically ill patients. Majority of patients admitted to the ICU require emergent medical attention for keeping the vital functions supported with lifesaving interventions. Once patients recovered from acute phase, they are transferred from ICUs to general wards.

The acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a major cause of acute respiratory failure. Its development leads to high rates of mortality, as well as short- and long-term complications, such as physical and cognitive impairment. Key components of a strategy include avoiding lung overdistension by limiting tidal volumes and airway pressures, and the use of positive endexpiratory pressure with or without lung recruitment manoeuvres in patients with severe ARDS.In this review article, we describe updated concepts in ARDS.

Malaria is a debilitating disease transmitted by mosquitoes and caused by protozoa of the genus Plasmodium. The disease is most commonly transmitted by an infected female Anopheles mosquito. The mosquito bite introduces the parasites from the mosquito's saliva into a person's blood. The parasites travel to the liver where they mature and reproduce. Chemical validation of new ant malarial targets is recently required in view of rising resistance to current drugs.

A 58 year old woman presented for evaluation of a painless swelling anterior to lower half of sternum. Physical examination revealed a non-tender swelling of size 6×8cm in the presternal location in between the two breasts. The characteristic punctum over the lesion made the diagnosis of epidermal cyst straightforward. This was a giant epidermal cyst, as epidermal cysts usually do not exceed 5cm in diameter. The patient underwent complete excision of the lesion, which on histopathologic examination was confirmed to be epidermal cyst.
