Silica-rich geomaterials and their use as heterogeneous catalysts in the transesterification reaction to produce biodiesel

A silica-rich geomaterial of a mining tail was prepared and tested as a heterogeneous catalyst in the transesterification reaction in soybean oil to produce the corresponding fatty acid methyl esters (biodiesel). The dry raw geomaterial was characterized by powder X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and 57Fe-Mössbauer spectroscopy. The raw mineral sample was then dispersed in aqueous solution containing 35 g KI 100 mL-1 to form the chemically active solid catalyst.

An analytical study of citta and its classification in abhidhamma

Citta is one of the four ultimate realities (paramaṭṭha), Citta is translated as consciousness, in Abhidhamma, consciousness (citta) is the pure awareness of the object. In defining the word ‘citta’, awareness means just the bare awareness. It knows that something is there. It is something like that. Consciousness is the pure or bare awareness of the object. It is like water which is clear.

Photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants using a commercial catalyst by heterogeneous photocatalysis

The continuous growth of the population and industrial has provided an increase in the environmental impact and human health, due to the greater quantities of waste generated, mainly by the presence of organic toxic compounds, such as the dyes. Then, the work aims to evaluate the applicability of heterogeneous photocatalysis in the degradation of the rhodamine B dye, such as a target molecule, using the commercial titanium dioxide catalyst, under ultraviolet and visible radiation.

Avaluations of free access applications of mobile phones for hearing impaired people

Assistive technology is an interdisciplinary area contemplated by health, engineering and computer science, aiming to generate means that allow social insertion and improvement of the quality of life of people with disabilities. Disability can be defined as any loss or abnormality of a structure or psychological, physiological or anatomical function that generates inability to perform activity, within the standard considered normal for humans.
