Popular knowledge and collective memory of care-giving grandmothers regarding the umbilical stump

This study aimed to investigate the memory of grandmothers in the care of the umbilical stump, establishing a parallel between scientific and popular knowledge. It is a part of the thesis entitled “I have kept the belly button of all my grandchildren: memory of grandmothers in the care of the umbilical stump”. It is an exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, developed in a municipality of the Brazilian state of Bahia, with 13 grandmothers registered in a coexistence group. We used interviews as information collecting technique, based on Thematic Oral History and Collective Memory.

Nurse’s behavior in the preventive care practice regarding diabetic foot

The objective of the study is to identify the practices of care for prevention of diabetic foot performed by the nurse. Integrative literature review in the databases: LILACS, SCIELO, BDENF, Cochrane Library and Web of Science. The inclusion of publications was followed by criteria such as: complete and free texts in Portuguese, English and Spanish, published between 2006 and 2019. Productions that did not attend to the guiding question of the study, letters to editors, theses, dissertations and annals, totaling a final sample of 16 articles.

Molecular study based on proteus mirabilis contamination in chicken meat in selected districts of Kerala, India

Proteus mirabilis is known human pathogen as a common cause of human urinary tract infection (UTI), nosocomial infection, wound infection and a possible causative agent of outbreaks of gastroenteritis, resulting from the consumption of contaminated food. In this study, we have analyzed bacteria in the chicken meat in selected districts of Kerala, India, using 16S rRNA gene partial sequencing.. 50 Samples of raw chicken meat were collected from slaughterhouses and meat shops in the study area by simple random sampling method.

Evaluation of the effects of diet with coconut oil on the metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids in wistar rats

The present study Aimed to evaluate the effect of coconut oil on rats submitted to ahypercaloric and hyperlipidic diet. It has about 28 male Wistar rats divided into four groups, group I: animals fed a diet hypercaloric; group II: animals treated with the high calorie diet plus coconut oil; group III: animals treated with commercial ration and group IV: animals treated with commercial ration plus coconut oil. The animals Were weighed and had the glycemia Evaluated weekly throughout the experiment until the day of sacrifice.

Knowledge and feeling of women on gestational and congenitalsyphilis

Objective: Understanding women's knowledge and feelings about gestational syphilis and congenital syphilis and prenatal care in health services. Method: Qualitative approach, with 10 (ten) women, who are accompanying their children in a hospital unit, with a confirmed diagnosis of congenital syphilis. The semi-structured interview was used as a data collection instrument from September to October 2018. Data were analyzed using Bardin's methodology.

Breastfeeding and intercurrences that contribute to early weaning: an integrative review

Introduction: Breastfeeding is considered a complex action, and can be influenced by social, historical and political constraints in addition to cultural factors in women’s decision to breastfeed or not and the durability of this practice. Objective: To demonstrate the importance of performing an integrative review on the factors that favor early weaning.
