Lipid accumulation product index predictor tool insulinic resistance undiagnosed in adolescents girls

Objective: To evaluate the predictive capacity of the lipid accumulation product in the detection of insulin resistance in female adolescents. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 113 adolescents from public schools, aged 10 to 19 years. The anthropometric, sociodemographic, hemodynamic and biochemical variables were evaluated. The waist height ratio, waist hip ratio and lipid accumulation product were determined through protocols described in the literature. The presence of insulin resistance was determined through HOMA-RI, using a cut-off point =3.16.

Biochemical changes during fermentation process of black tea manufacture

The quality of black tea is mainly depends on the standard of plucking the green leaf. The most attractiveness of tea as beverage for the main part due to the presence of Polyphenol and caffeine. Young tea shoots are extremely rich in Polyphenol and caffeine which constitute up to 30 percent and 4 percent. Although many of the biochemical transformations occur during the withering phase of tea manufacture, but the most noticeable changes occur during fermentation.

Pharmacological activity of the flavonoid pectolinarin from the leaves of lantana camara (verbenaceae)

The leaves of Lantana camarawere submitted to preliminary phytochemical study obtaining essential oil and methanolic extract. In the analysis of the essential oil (hydrodistillation), they identified cariophilene (7.3%), Germacrene B (37.5%) and Germacrene D (21.7%) as the most relevant of the nine components obtained. The ethyl acetate (EtOAc) revealed from the partition of the ethanolic extract (EtOH) of the Leaves of L. camara was subjected to filtration and column chromatography (CC) resulted in lavone, unheard of in the species.

Status of adiponectin level in pcos and its relationship with body mass index (bmi) in kanpur region women with pcos

Objective: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder associated with obesity. Earlier, studies showed a direct relationship between Adiponectin level and obesity, however, contrast results were, found in different studies. The present study investigated the status of Adiponectin level in PCOS and its relationship with body mass index (BMI) in Kanpur region women with PCOS. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 80 women in the age group of 20-40 were enrolled, 40 women with PCOS were assigned as study group and 40 healthy women were selected as control groups.

Design and fabrication of grain dryer utilizing charcoal as fuel

A grain dryer that uses charcoal as fuel was constructed. The dryer has three component parts namely: drying chamber, heating chamber and heat exchanger The dimensions of the dryer are; height 124.5cm, breadth 41.5cm and length 51.5cm respectively. The body of dryer was made with mild steel and lagged with paper and cotton material. Drying efficiency of the dryer was 63%, while the average drying rate was 0.12g/sec, with a moisture content reduction of 14.2% over period of 70minutes.
