Waste management in large distribution chains transformation of food waste

At present, there are numerous supermarket chains destined to the sale of food. The paper analyses the possibility to generate energy from the waste food of the supermarkets, which final destination is the municipal dump. Through the Circular Economy Action Plan, proposals are included to achieve the revaluation of the generated waste. Focusing on the meat and fish collection that is not sold by these well-known supermarket chains, two possible destinations can be analysed: One is the generation of biogas and the other is the production of meal and fat for animal consumption.

Antibacterial, free radical scavenging and anticancer properties of essential oil from Kyaya Ivorensis A. Juss stem bark

In vitro antibacterial activity of Khaya ivorensis stem bark oil against some human pathogens was investigated using agar diffusion method. The antioxidant and cytotoxic properties of the plant oil were also evaluated using scavenging effect on 2, 2- diphenyl-1-pieryhydrazyl radical (DPPH) and brine shrimp lethality bioassay methods respectively. Phytochemical screenings of the plant stem bark oil revealed the presence of alkaloids, saponins, tannins, phlobatanins, phenols, anthraquinone, cardiac glycosides, terpenoids and flavonoids.

Current development carbon material based electrochemical and bio sensors review

Carbon- nanomaterials based electrochemical and biosensor have been taken a great attention as robust materials for drug, pesticides and heavy metal sensing. The materials are like graphene, reduced graphene oxide, single wall and multiwall carbon nanotubes due to their excellent modifiable sidewalls, biocompatibility, high stability, high surface area, electrical and thermal conductivities as well as high mechanical strength.

Enhanced multi-label arabic text classification based on integration of particle swarm algorithm and machine learning models

Multi-label text categorization is an important modern text mining task. The large number of feature in text datasets degrades the performance of text classification. However, multi-label text often has more noisy, irrelevant and redundant features with high dimensionality. A large amount of computational time is required to classify a large number of text documents of high dimensional. The problem is much difficult in Arabic due to complex nature of the Arabic language, which has a very rich and complicated morphology.

Eco-design of cassava press in agrifood manufacturing in Africa

Gari is cassava flour widely used in West Africa, more specifically in Benin. The transformation of cassava into Gari involves several stages. The pressing step is one of the steps to remove hydrocyanic acid from the pulp, multiply microorganisms and help increase the palatability of Gari. Pressing equipment is made of metals which negatively impact the environment because their welding requires energy consumption and generates waste (toxic gases, electrode residues and iron filings).

Assessment for learning with mobile apps: exploring the potential of quizizz in the educational context

The use of mobile technologies and applications provides teachers a wide range of possibilities, both, in the teaching process and the assessment for learning. Nowadays, there are several applications to support the whole teaching-learning process, such as Kahoot, Socrative, Plickers, Gosoapbox, iClicker, etc. In this context, this paper aims at describing the potential of Quizizz as a valuable tool in education, taking into consideration that the use of quiz-type applications, if well planned, can motivate students, drawing their attention to achieve better results in the classroom.

Rfid based car parking system using android

RFID vehicle parking and payment system using android. The manual work of parking and payment is reduced making it very easy to tag a vehicle by using RFID tracker to identify the user details and deduct amount from his/her wallet. This System makes the work easier such as booking the slot, paying the amount. Whenever the car enters the parking base, the user information in the RFID tag is read by the RFID reader and the starting time/entering time of the user details is sent to the admin.

Transnasal endoscopic treatment of choanal atresia

Choanal atresia is a rare structural abnormality in which the posterior opening of the nasal cavity, which flows through the nasopharynx and the inability to breathe, occurs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and results of unilateral or bilateral choanal atresia management using modern endoscopic techniques. The study included seventeen patients who were admitted to the department of Ear, Nose and Throat in Tishreen university, who were underwent surgery for choanal atresia via endoscopic techniques, and study results and complications.

Effects of insecticides and phytoinsecticides on the egg parasitoid Telenomus podisi ashmead (hymenoptera: platygastridae)

The brown stink bug Euschistus heros Fabrícius (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) is one of the main pests of the soybean crop. Aiming at the population reduction of this insect, an alternative to chemical control is the association of selective products with biological control through egg parasitoids, such as Telenomus podisi Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae). The objective of this study was to evaluate the lethal and sublethal effect of insecticides and phytoinsecticides on adult and immature stages of the parasitoid in pre and post parasitism bioassays and sublethal effects.

Influence of the incorporation of annatto oil bixa orellana l. in the sun protection factor by visible spectroscopy of photoprotective formulations

The cancer of skin type no melanoma is the most frequent cancer in Brazil and accounts for 25% of all malignant tumors registered in the country. It has high rates of cure if detected early. Among the tumors of the skin, non-melanoma type is the higher incidence and lower mortality. Test bioproducts with protective solar activity is crucial in the prevention of public health and promotes technological development. The study evaluated the influence of Bixa orellana L. oil on SPF (Sun Protection Factor) six emulsions containing chemical filters Eusolex 232 and Neo Heliopan MBC.
