Education beyond the bars: reflections on school in Brazilian prisons

The discussion on education within the Brazilian Prison System is strongly connected with the social function of the school, once the criminal policy is directly related to the failure of the prison system, taking into account its primary objectives, viz. resocialize and insert its subjects into society, without the prospect of relapsing into the prison system.

Pharmacological effects of bauhinia forficata link

Bauhinia forficata (BF) is widely used by the Brazilian population to treat different diseases. The scientific evidences of the hypoglycemic activity of this plant, led to a growing interest about the pharmacological properties resulted by the presence of bioactive compounds present in the leaves, flowers, stems, roots, and seeds. This study intended to carry out a bibliographic survey highlighting the main pharmacological activities of BF.

Planejamento estratégico no contexto das organizações religiosas

Today, the management practices of religious organizations have become more complex, requiring ecclesiastical managers to use the administration's tools and techniques. Strategic planning is an important management process. In religious organizations, it provides a broad view of the institution and has an important role in assisting managers in decision making.

Responses of growth and chlorophyll fluorescence of gmelina arborea roxb. ex sm. to light are not influenced by mild moisture stress in non-nitrogen-limited soil

To examine the combined effects of soil moisture and nitrogen availability on the responses of growth and chlorophyll fluorescence to light, seedlings of Gmelina arborea were grown under full sunlight or 50% sunlight, four moisture regimes (M1: 20-30%; M2: 40-50%; M3: 60-70%; M4: 80-90% field capacity) and four nitrogen levels (N1: 3 g/kg; N2: 3.75 g/kg; N3: 4.5 g/kg; N4: 5.25 g/kg) for six months. Full sunlight suppressed height and stem volume whereas it increased biomass production. Moisture elevation augmented morphological traits and biomass production while reducing root: shoot.

The use of microbe plus to improve phosphorus availability from rock phosphate under oil palm (Elaesis guineensis, Jacq.) nursery

The need to improve phosphorus availability from rock phosphate with readily available product is of prime importance in crop production. The overall objective of the research was to improve P availability from RP using MP and the subsequent effect on biomass nutrient concentration and P uptake. The research was conducted at OPRI of Ghana, Kade-Kusi in the semi-deciduous zone of the country. Soil available P, seedlings frond nutrient content and P uptake was evaluated on oil palm seedlings at the nursery. The study was a 4 × 4 factorial experiment arranged in RCBD with 3 replications.

Hemolysis influence on the analytical performances of the automatonbs 300 in the dosage of 5 parameters

The aim of this study was to determinehemolysis influence on the analytical performances of the automaton BS300 (Mindray®) on the dosage of biochemical parameters. The hemolysis additions methodwas run to create an increasing hemoglobin range of concentration varying from 0 to 12g/dl. To determine an influence of the hemolysis on the measure, the variation limit of 10 % waschosen. The studied parameters were creatinine, albumin, total protein, calcium and total cholesterol. Total cholesterol and total proteinwere the positively impacted parameters leading to an overestimate of the result.

Physico-chemical and bacteriological characterization of the raw water of kongou pond (Niamey-niger)

The present study was conducted at the Kongou Gorou Zarmagandey pool. The aim of this study is to characterize the waters of this pool through in situ and laboratory measurements of certain physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters. The water samples were taken and analyzed according to the standardized methods of some physico-chemical parameters and bacteriological. These parameters are turbidity, pH, conductivity, temperature, iron, organic matter, color, copper, TDS, hardness, calcium, HCO3, magnesium, total residues, TAC, E.
