Assessing the performance and factors affecting organic rice agribusiness sustainability

The sustainability of organic rice agribusiness is determined by the performance of the agribusiness system consisting of subsystems providing production inputs, on-farm subsystems, processing/ handling results subsystems, marketing subsystems and supporting element subsystems. In Indonesia, especially East Priangan is known as an area of organic rice development. Currently, the development performance shows a decrease in indicators including productivity, production, planting area and the number of farmers involved in organic rice cultivation.

Dietary Behavior of Autistic Children

Objectives: This study aimed to obtain information about the dietary pattern and feeding problems of autistic children in Mumbai. Methods: It was a cross sectional study conducted on autistic children from various special schools in Mumbai. Fifty autistic and fifty age and gender matched typically developing (TD) children were selected for the study. The age group of children was 5-15 years. General information, details about their eating behavior and food habits of the children was collected from parents using a questionnaire.

A systematic review of aging and its causes

Aging is the accumulation of detriment which may lead to decline in normal function on cellular, tissue and organ level that ultimately causes age-related diseases and death over time. Genetics, intrinsic (endogenous) and extrinsic (environmental) factors play potential role in complex process of aging. Aged skin shows abnormalities in angiogenesis, immune system, vitamin D synthesis, wound healing and sweat and lipid production causing benign and malignant cancers. The ongoing overview uncovers the relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic skin aging processes.

Efficacy of local entomopathogenic nematodes against pieris brassicae (l., 1758) (lepidoptera: pieridae)

Pieris brassicae (L., 1758) (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) is considered one of the main pests of cabbage crops; The article describes the use of local entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) (S.thesami, S.tbilisiense, S. borjomiense, S. gurgistana and Heterorhabditis sp.) against P. brassicae in laboratory conditions. These nematodes were first used for cabbage pests. The tests were carried out with different doses of a suspension of each species of nematode (100, 50 and 25 nematodes against one insect).

The moderating role of bank type in the relationship between innovation and competitive advantage: the Egyptian banking sector

Therefore, a questionnaire was developed to banks customers of private and public sector in Egypt, to be able to compare between both sectors and investigate the challenges facing each.

Active thermography as non-destructive technique in the diagnosis of pathological manifestations in wood pieces

This paper aims to present the feasibility of the use of thermography as a non-destructive technique to diagnose the pathological manifestations hidden in wood pieces, whether they come from natural manifestations such as nodes, cracks, chemical, atmospheric and biological or of anthropic agents. Through the use of the active thermography technique, which uses pre-heating of the analyzed surface, experiments were carried out in order to identify the position of natural defects in these pieces.

A review article on adhatoda vasica nees: A potential source of bioactive compounds

Herbal medicine is still the mainstay of about 75–80% of the world population, mainly in the developing countries, for primary health care because of better cultural acceptability, better compatibility with the human body and lesser side effects. However, the last few years have seen a major increase in their use in the developed world. As far as contemporary drugs are concerned they must be further characterized after their pharmacological screening by studying the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties, including toxicity.

Nutritional status of schoolchildren from municipal schools in a city of Sao Paulo, Brazil

A cross-sectional study was carried out to evaluate the nutritional status of schoolchildren aged 6 to 10 years enrolled in municipal schools in Carapicuiba in 2014. The anthropometric evaluation was performed by weight and height and the classification of the nutritional status by height-for-age, weight for age and body mass index for age expressed in Z-score, compared to the reference values recommended by the World Health Organization.

Supplementation with vitamin d associated to the exercise alters differently to the morphology of the brown adipose tissue in lean and obese rats

Here was evaluated the effect of chronic VD supplementation associated or not to exercise on fat accumulation in Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) from lean and obese male rats. Obesity was induced by administration of monosodium glutamate (MSG; 4g/Kg). Control (CON) received saline. At 30th day, MSG and CON rats were weaned and subdivided in VD supplemented (12µg/Kg) or non-supplemented (NS), Exercised (E) or Sedentary (S). At 86 days of life, the rats were euthanized and white adipose tissue (WAT) and BAT depots weighted. The BAT was submitted to histological analyses.
