The influence of the type and dose of manure towards growth and crop yield of onion (allium cepa var. ascalonicum) on dry land

Plant onion (Allium cepa var. ascalonicum) is one of the vegetables that are very well known by the public as a flavoring condiment cuisine. To increase the production of onion then the very need for fertilization fertilizer organic, among others. Organic fertilizer has a role in providing the nutrients needed by plants. The use of organic fertilizer is an of the efforts to improve soil fertility, because organic fertilizers is porous, raising the ability of the soil in the hold (tie) water.

Low dose computed tomography scan in paranasal sinusitis, is it sufficient?

Background: Computed tomography (CT) has become a useful diagnostic modality in evaluation of the paranasal sinuses & an integral part of surgical planning. Because of the high inherent contrast in the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity, a low-dose technique can be used. Aim of study: to compare anatomical diagnostic image value assessment of low dose and standard dose protocol of computed tomography scanning of paranasal sinuses based on subjective assessment.

Dendrometry and production of jatropha seeds in Southern Sudanian zone of Burkina Faso

In a context of desertification and climate change, a good number of development actors in Burkina Faso have been interested in Jatropha curcas L. as a source of sustainability of production. In order to evaluate the dendrometric parameters and Jatropha seed production, tests were carried out for 12 months in Torokoro and Tin sites in the Southern Sudanian zone with a rainfall of about 1200 mm. Jatropha plants. 6 years old, are planted at 5m intervals between rows and 2m between plants.

Proposal for sustainable sanitation for low precipitation in urban areas in the Brazilian semiarid

The semiarid region of Brazil is one of the main characteristics the average index of precipitation below 800mm per year and covers a large part of the Northeast region, leading the urban populations to the rationing of water. This work proposes the application of a constructive methodology for homes, so that this can become high enough in water. It was taken as a case study, the city of Pompeii in Paraiba - Brazil. This work presents a study of the potential for storing rainwater for residences, with a view to verify the viability of a project sustainable construction.

Corrugated Furniture: A sustainable approach towards Interior Design

In recent times, Interior design practices have seen a dramatic shift with design strategies, which is focusing on providing healthy and sustainable indoor environments for the occupants. Interior designers feel compelled and can easily make a positive difference to the environmental problems extenuating it through their design choices to pursue sustainable design solutionsfor the given space.

The protective effect of different doses of alpha lipoic acid against hepatotoxicity of sodium nitrite in rat

Sodium nitrite (NaNO2) presents in vegetables and is routinely used as a color fixative and as a preservative for meat and fish. Chronic ingestion of NaNO2 induced abnormalities in the biochemical parameters associated with the oxidative stress. The present study was carried out to investigate the protective efficacy of alpha lipoic acid (ALA) on the liver and kidney function tests and the oxidative stress alteration induced by NaNO2 in male albino rats; moreover the microscopical examination was studied.

Evaluative study of coffee quality marketed in the city of campos gerais, MG

Consumed worldwide, coffee is a very popular drink, with distinctive aroma and flavor. Coffee beverage is produced from ripe fruit of known species of the genus Coffea, in which Coffeaarabica, Coffealiberica and Coffearobusta stand out. Coffee quality is defined by a set of physical, chemical, sensory and safety attributes, able to meet the taste of different types of consumers. This study analyzed six samples of coffees, three with registration: Sample A, Sample B and Sample C, and three without registration of ANVISA: Sample A. Sample B and Sample C.

Evaluation of biological effects of sericin on human lung cancer cell line

Introduction: Non-small cell tumor is the most common type of lung carcinoma and the treatment involves surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. In this sense, the search for new chemical substances with characteristics of selectivity, effectiveness and low toxicity have been investigated in the treatment of cancer. Studies show that sericin, a protein extracted from silkworm cocoons, has antitumor and pro-apoptotic activity. Objective: To analyze the potential antitumor effect of sericin on non-small cell lung cancer cell line.

Breeding for acquired disease resistance in open pollinated yam genotypes through cytoplasm defense mechanism - a review

Resistant varieties developed through plant breeding have made much contribution to Agriculture. This is because stability in crop production depends more on resistant varieties. Based on this, detailed review on the cytoplasm resistance and cytoplasm defense was carried out to enable Plant breeders develop yam genotypes with acquired disease resistance. Therefore yam plants that failed to inherit resistance genes could be made to acquire cytolasmic resistance mechanisms through field evaluation in hotspot agro ecologies.
