The brazilian food industry (iba): profile and technological dynamics.

This article seeks to identify the main factors behind the Brazilian Food Industries (IBA) innovation process. Initially, we tried to identify which sub-sectors within the food and beverage sector are more innovative than the others, and the role of the different explanatory factors, including competitive strategy that sustain these companies in the national market. In microeconomic incentives to innovate, our results show that there is a limitation of the food industries to innovate in relation to the other processing industries in Brazil, especially in micro and small companies.

Evaluation of hematological variables according to haplotypes in patients with users and nonusers of hydroxyurea in the sickle cell anemia

Clinical and prognostic profile of patient with sickle cell disease may vary according to their type of haplotype and fetal hemoglobin level. Objective: Relate hematological variables to the haplotypes of patients with sickle cell anemia and whether or not they use hydroxyurea. Material and methods: Cross-sectional study of patients with sickle cell anemia users and non-users of hydroxyurea. The hematological analyzes were submitted to laboratory tests as erythrogram and reticulocyte count. The dosage of HbF was obtained by means of High-performance liquid chromatography.

Dna origami and bionanotechnology: an efficacious tool for modern therapeutics and drug delivery

DNA has long been studied because of its irrefutable significance and interaction in all the essential biomechanisms. With the help of Bionanotechnology bottom-up approach, complex 2D and 3D DNA structures can be constructed as DNA origami by using short staple strands. DNA is biocompatible to different materials or particles such as drugs, antibiotics, inorganic molecules, metal particles and small molecules that can be attached precisely at nanometer scale with the DNA origami structures to generate nanodevices and nanomedicine.

Lipid degradation of corn preserved in oxygen depleted minienvironment

The Corn of 13 % moisture content was preserved in air oxygen depleted minienvironment, with oxygen concentration of 15%, 10%, 5% and <2%.The control sample was preserved innatural atmosphere at 20.9 % oxygen concentration. The main nutrient content of maize, such as starch, protein and lipid, were analyzed periodically at 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months during the preservation. The result on degradation of starch and protein has been represented previously. This article introduces the research results on the lipid degradation.

Organoleptic properties of developed multigrain flour mix - a functional food

Background: Functional foods are foods that provide additional physiological or health promoting benefits beyond the functions of nutrients contained in foods4. Functional food is a balanced formulated product created to deliver all the nutrients in per ordained proportions. Objectives: to develop multigrain flour blends using very strong functional ingredients and to assess its desirable rate of supplementation in common breakfast recipe i.e. chapatti.

Atmospheric concentration of air borne ascospores at udgir

The investigation of air borne fungi was carried out by operating continuous Tilak air sampler over Soybean (Glycine max) Khariff crop at Nidebanvillage, TalukaUdgir, District Latur (M.S) India. Occurrence and variations of air borne ascospores at two different seasons (I season June 2014 to October2014 and II season June 2015 to October 2015) have been observed over Soyabean field .In the present investigation it was evident that the maximum concentration of ascospores 20.69%/m3 of air were recorded during the rainy season.

Organoleptic evaluation, fluorescence analysis, phytochemical screening and mineral analysis of dried powdered leaves of traditional medicinal plant alternanthera sessilis used for the treatment of fungal infection in sierra leone

Organoleptic evaluation, Fluorescence analysis, Phytochemical screening and Mineral analysis has been carried out on the dried powdered Leaves of traditional medicinal plant Alternanthera sessilis used for the treatment of fungal infection in Sierra Leone. The brown colour, grass odour and bitter taste of dried powdered Leaves of the plant helps in identification and prevent adulteration of the dried powdered form of the plant organ during organoleptic evaluation. The bitter taste indicated that alkaloids are present in the leaves of the traditional medicinal plant A.

The influence of dosing cattle manure and organic liquid fertilizers towards growth and crop yield of lettuce (lactuca sativa L.) on three different soil types

Lettuce cultivation on the lowlands with mineral soil was made one of the alternatives for increasing the production of lettuce. Mineral soils are less fertile if it will be planted with lettuce need to give organic ingredients. The purpose of this study is to knowing the influence and interaction between the doses of manure and liquid organic fertilizers towards growth and yield of lettuce plants on three different soil types. The methods used in this study was a Randomized Design Group (RDG), with three replicates. The treatment arranged in factorial.
