Morphological and phenological characterization for 5 improved varieties of zizyphusmauritiana in Niger

This study aims to establish the phenological performance of five (5) improved cultivars of the jujube tree Ziziphus mauritiana Lam. Introduced in Niger. Leaf growth, opening and abortion of flowers and fruit dynamics were monitored under an experimental design consisting of two lines of each variety and each line is consisting of 19 tree plants an overall of 38 plants tree per variety and 190 plants tree in total. Results showed that Umran cultivars recorded the highest leaf appearance with a mean of 6.2, while Ben Gurion and Kaitheli had the lowest mean value of 4.2 leaves.

To assess knowledge regarding coronary artery diseases (cad) among patients attending medical opd with a view to develop guidelines on life style modifications at selected hospitals

Background of study: Coronary artery disease is the single largest killer of both men and women worldwide. Coronary artery disease (ischemic heart disease) has been defined as “impairment of heart function due to inadequate blood flow to the heart compared to its needs, caused by obstructive changes in the coronary circulation to the heart. The risk factors that precipitate Coronary artery disease can be presented in two categories that is modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors. Modifiable risk factors is one over which individual may access control.

An assessment of the influence of gender on property access and control among the people of kisii county in Kenya

This study assessed the influence of gender in property access and control among the Kisii people of Kenya. The study was guided by two objectives; identify key properties in Kisii County and establish the relationship between access and control over property and gender. Properties identified were residential houses, land, cattle, poultry, goats, commercial plots, houses, sheep and motor vehicles. However, this study focused on houses, land and livestock. Findings revealed men had unlimited access to family properties while women had limited access.

Microbiological characterization and antibiotic sensitivity pattern of pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from clinical samples

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is intrinsically resistant to several antimicrobials and rapidly develop resistance to other drugs during treatment and make it difficult and ineffective. In this study Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated and clinically characterized from clinical samples and its antibiotic sensitivity pattern towards commonly prescribed Beta-lactum antibiotic disc.

Extent of awareness of safety rules and regulations in science labboratories in secondary schools in ebonyi state

The research study investigated the extent of awareness of safety rules and regulations in science laboratories in secondary schools in Ebonyi State. It investigated the extent science students in rural and urban secondary schools in Ebonyi State are aware of safety rules and regulations in science laboratories. The researchers used 45 secondary schools selected through stratified random sampling technique, SS3 classes selected using purposive sampling technique and 900 students selected through random sampling. The researchers adopted a descriptive survey design.

Salt stress-induced proline accumulation, changes in ionic adjustment (na+/k+) and catalase in the tomato (solanum lycopersicum) leaf

Soil salinity is a major limitation to plant in many areas of the world. Present study has explored the effect of salinity on Proline content, mineral composition and antioxidant enzyme of tomato. Tomato plants were exposed to 0, 60, 90,120,150 mM NaCl.The Proline accumulation was studied by reading the absorption of chromophore at 520nm using spectrophotometer. The content of proline increase in tomato as the level of NaCl increase. Using atomic absorption spectrophotometer ion uptake for Na+, K+, Ca+ and Mg2+ were determined.

A review on screening methods for extracelular enzymes

Soil contains a number of microorganisms with nutritional diversity. These bacteria produce many extra cellular and intracellular enzymes which are used for various purposes. Some of these extracellular enzymes are important for agro based industries that in turn opens scope for searching cost effective and easy to operate screening of such important extracellular enzymes. Present paper describes a review on screening methods for extracellular enzymes. It includes screening for extracellular amylase, lipase and proteases.

Nutritional assessment of the elderly in a Brazilian community

The number of elderly people has increased worldwide in the last years and a key determinant for life quality that has an important repercussion for the elderly is a good nutrition status. This study aimed to analyze the influence of sociodemographic factors, risk behaviors, oral health conditions, and cognitive deficit on nutritional status in a cohort of 508 non-institutionalized elderly people from a community in Brazil.

The intuition of nothingness in aristotelian thought

This article inquires into the existing link between Aristotelian thought and Nothingness; for it, some pre-Aristotelian references are boarded, like Sophocles, Gorgias, or Plato. Attitudes of households toward solid waste management services and practices in Zanzibar

Solid waste is a visible concern in any environment especially for a tourist destination like Zanzibar. Zanzibar as the most rapidly growing tourist destination cannot afford to allow unsightly piles of solid waste and wind-blown litter on its streets. This will endanger its natural beauty, environmental and aesthetic value. This study examines the attitude of households towards solid waste management services and practices that can serve as an index for solid waste control.
