Evaluation of quality of life in patients with bruxism and orofacial pain after treatment with botulinum toxin - randomized, double-blind clinical trial

Introduction: Botulinum toxin is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and the clinical applications of this toxin have become common over the last 30 years with predictable results. Objective: To evaluate the improvement in the quality of life of bruxism patients with my ofascial pain after the application of botulinum toxin. Method: In this randomized, double-blind controlled clinical study, 30 female patients were selected aged between 18 and 40 years who presented bruxism with orofacial pain.

Violence practiced by intimate partners and harm against women's health

This article emphasizes the importance of confronting all forms of violence against women as a means of promoting health. Brazil reports high rates of violence against women. In recent months, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, violence against women has gained special visibility. The World Health Organization alerts that women in situations of violence are more predisposed to physical and psychological illness. There are groups of greater vulnerability among women, such as those diagnosed with AIDS or living with HIV.

Introdução: Devido a fatores da própria idade, os idosos são mais propensos a desenvolver agravos e complicações em sua saúde, sendo muitas vezes necessários recorrer a cuidados intensivos. Apensar da Unidade de Terapia Intensiva ser um ambiente controlado, ela apresenta um alto índice de Infecção Hospitalar, acarretando um grande risco a saúde do idoso. Objetivo: Verificar os principais riscos de infecção hospitalar em idosos internados em UTI, a partir de uma revisão integrativa.

Cancer in men: a study with patients seen at a hospital in the city of Porto Velho, Brazilian Amazon

Objective: to analyze the sociodemographic and clinical profile of men with cancer treated at a hospital in the city of Porto Velho, Rondônia, Western Amazon (Brazil), in a period equivalent to 1 (one) year. Materials and Methods: It is a documentary, quantitative, transversal and descriptive study, based on the raw data produced and sectorized, according to the methodological model recommended by Paraguassú-Chaves et al [6].

A importância da libras no processo de inclusão social do cidadão surdo no Brasil: da escolarização até o mercado de trabalho

This article clarifies the inclusion of deaf students in society, agreeing with the importance of this right, and thus, in a succinct way, highlights the legal bases that ensure the right from education to the labor market, defines what inclusion is, difficulties faced by deaf and / or deaf citizens in this process, exposing the importance of the school and the teacher in this process of social inclusion. The research was carried out through bibliographic surveys by means of true and legitimate documents.

Knowledge, attitudes and practices of Brazilian physician regarding Covid-19 pandemic: a quick online cross-sectional survey

To identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices of physician regarding COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional study, using a public opinion survey, carried out with physician of different specialties in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The sample consisted of 220 professionals, the data collection was made using electronic forms created on Google forms®, distributed through social media (Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram). Bivariate analysis was performed using the TStudent, Chi-square and ANOVA tests.

Contributions of nursing in the prevention of sexually transmitted infections in elderly

O presente estudo trata-se de uma revisão integrativa, que teve como objetivo conhecer como a enfermagem pode contribuir na prevenção de Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis (IST’s) em idosos. O estudo foi desenvolvido a partir do levantamento de artigos científicos realizado nas bases de dados da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde: Bdenf, Lilacs, Scielo e Google Acadêmico. Tendo como critério artigos completos e originais no período de 2015 a 2020,somando-se 46 artigos dos quais 10 foram analisados.

Introdução: A infecção pelo HIV é reportada como problema de grande preocupação para da saúde pública mundial. A epidemia da infecção pelo HIV acomete a população de maneira desigual, deste modo, é importante conhecer os padrões de comportamentos sexuais para desenvolver estratégias eficazes de prevenção deste agravo. Objetivo: Descrever as características sociodemográficas e comportamentais dos pacientes atendidos com HIV no Centro de Referência Regional em Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis (IST’s) no município de Vitória da Conquista na Bahia, Brasil.

Breastfeeding is an important practice for the mother-child binomial, despite the uncertainties regarding the transmission of the 2019 coronavirus through the maternal bed. Objective: to analyze the evidence in the literature on breastfeeding management in the current context of a COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: Integrative literature review. Inclusion criteria were used: publications on breastfeeding and COVID-19; original articles, published from 2019 until April 2020, in English, Spanish and Portuguese; indexed in the VHL, Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science.

Challenges of home-and-work routine for an academic mother during the coronavirus pandemic

The pandemic has not only had a major impact on health and economic systems, but also radical changes in habits and lifestyles.This context can exacerbate the challenges faced by academic mothers. Managing the virus threat is adding a significant new dose of domestic and emotional work to our lives. Writing about the present time expands the personal and professional importance of being a mother and an academic at the same time.
