Correlation between depression levels of urban rural and slum adolescent girls and boys with their selected variables

Irrespective of their gender and area of residence the depression level of the adolescent girls and boys were found to have significant negative correlation family socio-economic status, normalcy of children, age, education and occupation of parents, health status, academic achievements, social status of family, relations with parents, siblings and peers, physical appearance, body built, adopted patenting practices, special place in family and dietary pattern with their depression levels.

Technological use of kiwi (cv. hayward) shell for elaboration of cookie-type biscuits

The objective of this work was to elaborate cookie-type biscuits with the addition of kiwi shell flour (KPF), to characterize and evaluate the effect of the addition of kiwi bark flour on the physical-chemical characteristics, texture profile, physical properties and microbiological quality. Fresh and dehydrated kiwi shells (35 °C/72h) were physicochemically characterized.

Effect of nitrogen and potassium fertigation on the quality of Italian zucchini fruit

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen and potassium fertigation on the quality of ‘Novita Plus’ Italian zucchini fruit. The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions at the Technical Center of Irrigation, Department of Agronomy of the State University of Maringá. The drip irrigation system was used such that each plant was irrigated by a dripper operating at a nominal flow of 4 L h-1 and a service pressure of 10 m.c.a., which was controlled by means of a pressure gauge of glycerin installed in the control head of the system.

Evaluation of the effect of different doses of potassium on yield of soybean

The soybean culture has a significant role for the Paraná state, not only due the facto of being the second lasgest producer, but also for having climate favorable to planting.The adequate supply of Potassium has showed to be a complicate issue due to problems like leaching on sandy soils on the northeast of Paraná and its importance for the good development of the soybean.

A febre amarela é uma doença infecciosa, endêmica nas florestas tropicais daAmérica Latina e África, capaz de causar surtos ou epidemias com impacto na saúde pública. A doença é causada por vírus da família Flaviviridae, gênero Flavivírus, transmitida pela picada de insetos hematófagos da família Culicidae, gênero Haemagogus e Aedes. O objetivo do estudoé descrever as evidencias cientificas sobre a situação epidemiológica da febre amarela no Brasil, conforme as publicações científicas no período de 2012 a 2017.

Ergonomic risk assessment in food industry

The objective of this work was to discuss and explain issues related to ergonomic hazards in the food industry. Its development is justified by the high rate of occurrences of accidents at work in the sector. It is common to work in this area to deploy the safety of the product without emphasize the safety inherent in the processing. However, a safe food is the result of a series of steps that begins in the raw material and ends on the supermarket shelves, therefore, it is essential to look into this issue with a peripheral vision.

Popular knowledge and collective memory of care-giving grandmothers regarding the umbilical stump

This study aimed to investigate the memory of grandmothers in the care of the umbilical stump, establishing a parallel between scientific and popular knowledge. It is a part of the thesis entitled “I have kept the belly button of all my grandchildren: memory of grandmothers in the care of the umbilical stump”. It is an exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, developed in a municipality of the Brazilian state of Bahia, with 13 grandmothers registered in a coexistence group. We used interviews as information collecting technique, based on Thematic Oral History and Collective Memory.

Tuberculose e hanseníase: perfil clínico-epidemiológico de pacientes atendidos em um município baiano

Introdução: Inovações ocorrem diariamente no setor saúde, contudo a doenças reemergentes como a Hanseníase e a Tuberculose são tidas como enfermidades ainda presentes nos contextos institucionais que despertam o interesse para a identificação precoce e as práticas a serem desempenhadas de modo a alcançar a redução da morbimortalidade. Objetivo: Descrever o perfil clínico-epidemiológico de pacientes portadores de tuberculose e hanseníase atendidos em um município baiano. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo-exploratório, de abordagem quantitativa.
