A study to investigate the relationship between household food insecurity and childhood obesity

food insecurity and the occurrences of childhood obesity are increasingly becoming public health concerns in most households in North Carolina and the world at large. This research study intends to examine the relationship between childhood obesity and the food security status of children from low income households that are taking part in the nutritional supplemental program for the groups that are considered vulnerable in the society such as women, young children as well as infants alike.

Growth, grain yield, and forage yield of maize hybrids fertilized with different nitrogen doses

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of fertilization with different doses of nitrogen on the growth and yield of six maize hybrids by determining initial growth, forage fresh matter yield (FFMY), forage dry matter yield (FDMY), grain dry matter content (GDMC), and total grain yield (TGY). The study was carried out in an experimental area of ESALQ/USP in the municipality of Piracicaba/SP, between November and March 2017, using a subsurface drip irrigation system.

Evaluation of phytochemical and anxiolytic property of cow urine betel vine extract in albino mice

Objective: To study the phytochemical and anxiolytic property of Cow urine Betel vine extract in albino mice. Methods: The anxiolytic activity of Cow urine Betel vine extract at (250 and 500mg/kg, p.o) in mice was assessed by using elevated plus-maze and light –dark model. Results: The Cow urine Betel vine extract significantly reduces the duration of time spent in the closed arm in Elevated plus-maze model and decreased entries into dark chamber in the Light-Dark model at the doses of 250 and 500mg/kg respectively.

Performance of nellore heifers on deferred urochloa brizantha pasture fertilized with nitrogen

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different levels of nitrogen in deferred Brachiaria (Syn.Urochloa) brizantha cv. Marandu pastures on the intake, digestibility, and performance of Nellore heifers. A completely randomized design was adopted, with four treatments (nitrogen levels) and four replicates (number of fertilized paddocks). Initially, 48 Nellore heifers with an average age of 8 months and with an initial body weight of 179 kg were distributed at the rate of three animals per paddock into all treatments in a continuous grazing system with variable stocking rate.

Time tendencies of the earth surface atmospheric pressure in some southern localities of chad. period from 1986 to 2005-2015

This study has shown that the time tendencies of the earth surface atmospheric pressure in the southern part of Chad strictly occur in the interval 955.0 – 985.0 hPa and this variability is negligible as indicated by the low values of their standard deviation. It also indicates that one can accurately estimate missed data of the earth surface atmospheric pressure by the average values of its monthly or yearly means.

Sensitivities of resident birds to climatic warming in Ethiopia

The effects of spatially varying temperature on resident birds of Ethiopia was evaluated. The resident bird data was treated at the guild level and the response variable was guild species richness. The guilds considered were granivores, frugivores, insectivores and raptors. The species richness of all the guilds considered declined significantly in response to spatially increased temperature.

Expression, refolding and purification protocol for Trypanosomaevansi adenosine deaminase protein in e.coli rosetta gami

Trypanosomaevansi causes a highly pathogenic disease in equines popularly known as "Surra". In Brazilian Pantanal, outbreaks are recorded due to the large population of horses. Losses to livestock are due to inefficient treatments. Trypanosomes are vulnerable to purine metabolism because they do not have the De novopathway and they satisfy their requirements by salvaging the preformed bases demonstrating acomplete purine dependence on their hosts. Among the components of this system, we highlight Adenosine, which has its concentration controlled by the enzyme Adenosine Deaminase (ADA).

Isoeugenol efficacy against Staphylococcus aureus

Background: Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram-positive bacterium responsible for the development of infections of varying degrees of complexity. In addition, due to resistance phenomena, treatment against this pathogen has become increasingly ineffective, making it necessary to search for new molecules with antibacterial activity. Objective: The present study aims to evaluate isoeugenol antibacterial activity against clinical strains of Staphylococcus aureus through in vitro assays.
