Tomato is considered one of the most important vegetable species, because in addition to its use in natura, it can also be processed in several ways, such as extract, pulp, sauce and peeled tomato. This article aimed to evaluate the processing of tomatoes from the Paraná’s Supply Center (CEASA) in Maringá/PR and from a rural property located in the region of Maringá/PR. To perform the study, samples of tomatoes were collected and their quality was assessed by means of physical-chemical, microbiological analysis and determination of lycopene content.

Comparative elemental analysis of some selected heavy metals in some brand of dust and dustless chalk obtained from gombe state main market

The investigation on the level of heavy metals contents in dust and dustless chalks such Nickel(Ni), Zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe), Lead (Pb), and Cupper (Cu) in the dust and dustless was determined. Fe has very high concentration in both samples. In dust it was found to be 14.7 and 8.15 in dustless respectively. Themoisture content of dust and dustless chalk which obtained from the analysis which show that the moisture content of dustless is lower than the dust sample.

Quality of seeds of forest species

The aim of the present study was to determine the incidence of fungi associated with the seeds of forest species. For such, we used seeds from Anadenanthera macrocarpa, Ceiba speciosa, Caesalpinia ferrea var. leiostachya, Mimosa caesalpiniifolia, Myracrodruon urundeuva, Amburana cearenses, Schinopsis brasiliensis, Erythrina verna, Aspidosperma pyrifolium, Moringa oleifera, Guazuma ulmifolia and Enterolobium contortisiliquum. Incubation on a substrate of filter paper (blotter test) was used for the identification of fungi.

Study of pesticides in the environmental chemical education

Agrochemicals known as pesticides, come from various chemical components, and have raised questions about their use, as many of these compounds accumulate in our bodies, causing cancer, in addition to causing serious environmental problems. Thinking of a perspective of making students aware of the chemistry discipline in high school at a public school in Paraiba, Brazil, a didactic sequence was developed addressing the chemical concepts related to the use of pesticides and the environmental problems caused.
