Antioxidant potential of medicinal plant ipomoea Cairica (L) sweet

In present study, the in-vitro antioxidant activities of the methanolic extracts of leaves and flowers of Ipomoea cairica were determined by spectrophotometric method. Antioxidant activities of extract were expressed as percentage of DPPH radicals inhibition. The methanolic extract of Ipomoea cairica leaves showed maximum antioxidant activity of 83.52% and methanolic extract of Ipomoea cairica flowers showed maximum antioxidant activity 81.85 % at 500 μg/ml concentrations. This study reveals that leaves and flowers of I. cairica can be used as natural sources of antioxidants.

Quality analysis of the Indian scad oil (Decapterus sp) as a fungtional microencapsule in the brownies

The study aims to describe the differences in quality, yield and composition of ω-3 fatty acids in fish oil, and quality microencapsule as functional materials on brownies. The research was conducted in three stages, namely extraction, testing the quality, yield and composition of ω-3 fatty acids and proximate of brownies. Analysis of quality concist of the composition of ω-3 fatty acids, yield, peroxide, anisidin, and total oxidation. Proximate data were analyzed with ANOVA and continued with HSD  at level α of 5%. The results showed that yield of the method BD is 4.05% and SP is 3.70%.

Antimicrobial activity of pesticide residue and implications of international MRLS in Indian and imported wines

Objectives: International food safety standards having a great interest in public health and setting legislative Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) of the host country with respect to applied agrochemicals. India is the leading country known for its highest tonnage per hector grape yield due to the favorable microclimatic conditions. Present investigation aimed to determine pesticidal residues in International and Indian wine samples using various sophisticated biophysical instrumentation.

Production of citric acid – a short review

Citric acid is widely used as a flavouring agent in a long list of preparations. It is one of the few organic acids found in limes and lemons in particularly high concentrations. It can be produced by biotechnological fermentation with the help of fungal species like Aspergillus niger. There have been various attempts to produce citric acid efficiently from inexpensive raw materials. This review is an attempt to describe the various organisms and substrates utilized for the production of citric acid over a period of past 10 years.
