Risk of maternal mortality using relative risk ratios obtained from poisson regression analysis

This paper highlights the importance of carrying out a meta-analysis in epidemiologic research of a non-common outcome without the loss of study/ies due to insufficient data. A good number of researches have adequately covered common disease outcomes in a meta-analysis, however, non-common disease outcomes have not been well determined.

The effect of diabetes mellitus and retinal laser photocoagulation on corneal parameters: a specular microscopic study

Objectives: The aims of this study were to compare the endotelial structure and central corneal thickness in diabetic and non-diabetic subjects, and to evaluate the effect of retinal laser photocoagulation in patients with diabetic retinopathy on endotelial structure and central corneal thickness. Methods: Subjects were recruited from Al-Naser Eye Hospital, 110 eyes were examined and classified into three groups: diabetic, non-diabetic and diabetic retinopathy treated with laser photocoagulation.

Deportation of melanoidin in distillery spent wash using bacterial consortia - confirms through structural changes and ao-eb fluorescence

Distillery spent wash maintains very dark brown color even after aerobic and anaerobic treatment due to the available of various organic and inorganic residues, obstinate and coloring compounds mainly melanoidin. In this study, melanoidin decolorizing bacterial strains were isolated and enhanced the growth rate of selected bacterial colonies at normal incubation temperature at laboratory conditions. The optimal decolourization of melanoidin was achieved at pH 7 and temperature is 37ºC on 3rd day of refinement.

Winter sprouting index of sugarcane genotypes is a measure of winter ratooning ability

Introduction: The low temperature prevails during winter season in the subtropical region of India limits stubble sprouting and tillering ability of sugarcane clones. Therefore, identification of high yielding, high sugar, disease resistant varieties coupled with better winter ratooning ability is given priority in the subtropical sugarcane breeding programmes. Aim of the study was to assess the winter sprouting index of sugarcane germplasm. Methods: To evaluate sugarcane clones for winter ratoonability, an index called winter sprouting index (WSI) was constructed.

Simulation analysis and experimental research on stress concentration of test technique based on initial permeability

Initial permeability measurement is an early evaluating method of micro-structure changes such as stress concentration and fatigue damage by measuring the change of initial permeability. The detection principle of permeability testing technology for ferromagnetic material was studied and analyzed. The ANSYS finite element simulation model was established, the excitation frequency parameters were optimized, and the changing law of the detection signal with the initial permeability of ferromagnetic material was analyzed. At same time testing platform for permeability testing have been built.

Status of diseases and disorders of ruminants in sylhet, bangladesh

A study of ruminant diseases was undertaken to determine the prevalence and distribution of diseases based on species, age, sex, system affected, and seasonal variation at Jaintapur Upazilla, Sylhet during January, 2016 to December, 2016. A total of 791 diseased animals were examined where cattle, goat, sheep and buffalo were 538, 182, 17 and 54 respectively. Out of 538 diseased cattle, (38.66%) were male and (61.34 %) were female animals. Disease prevalence is high in old age group (81.22%) than young age group (18.77%).

Important considerations about dentist surgery in the diagnosis of oral cancer

Oral cancer or oral carcinoma is a chronic, complex, multifactorial pathology resulting from the interaction of intrinsic and extrinsic factors leading to imbalance in the process of cell proliferation and growth control. It is up to the dentist to detect early lesions or anomalies that may suggest a possible early stage cancer and refer the patient to referral referral and referral center of specialty dentistry.

Childhood malnutrition and lann intervention: case study of five state intervention areas in India

Higher prevalence of chronic malnutrition in vulnerable and backward pockets of India sets back the pace of inclusive growth in Indian economy. Indian villages consisting of marginalized population in states like West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan retards the aggregate improvement in development indicators. This is one major reason hindering the achievement of optimal well being at an equitable way.

Main predictors immunomodulatories of cancer

Background: In the world, the highest incidences in the scenario of cancerous diseases in 2016 were those of lung cancer with 1.9 million, breast 1.8 million and colorectal 1.5 million. In Brazil, 580,000 new cases of cancer were estimated by 2014. In addition, protein-energy malnutrition, which occurs in 30,0-90,0 % of cancer patients, also causes adverse effects on the immune system. Objective: The goal of this paper was to describe in a brief and objective way, the important role of imunomodulators for the treatment of oncologic patients.
