The present article aimed to present a brief bibliographical review regarding the categories gestation, maternity and congenital infectious diseases, specifically the cases involving Zika infection, cytomegalovirus and toxoplasmosis. Emphasis is given to the affections in Brazil and in the world, tracing a brief historical panorama of its emergence. The gestational period is extremely important with regard to the health of the baby, but it is also a complicated stage for the mother, considering the sociobiological process to which she has to adapt.

Comparative study of ductus venosus doppler versus umbilical artery doppler in Management of intra uterine growth restriction and perinatal outcome

Current challenges in the clinical management of IUGR include accurate diagnosis of the truly growth restricted fetus, selection of appropriate fetal surveillance and optimizing the timing of delivery. This study was conducted to evaluate the role of umbilical artery Doppler and ductusvenosus Doppler in management of IUGR pregnancy and perinatal outcome. Total 80 patients who were presented to the in-patient and out-patient department of obstetrics and gynecology of SSKM and IPGME&R Hospital between 28-36 weeks POG with IUGR pregnancy were included in the present study.

Role of ashas in neonatal visits in Uttar Pradesh, India

When ASHAs were introduced in NRHM in 2005, their primary aim was to visit homes of newborns as the first program in UP operated through the ASHAs was the Comprehensive Child Survival Program in 2008. Since then, tracking of all deliveries and all the newborns are an integral part of the work of ASHAs in all the primary health care programs operated by the NHM in UP. The current study explores some of the crucial variables of the targeted activities of the ASHAs in absolute numbers in four districts of UP.

Use of pet-ct in radiotherapic gliomas planning

The use of positron emission computed tomography in radiotherapy planning has increased over the last decade. In this study, we analyzed, through a bibliographic research, the use of positron emission computed tomography examination in radiotherapy of gliomas. The research was conducted from October to November 2017, in the databases of "VHL", "Science Direct", "Pubmed" and "Web of Science", through the married descriptors: Positron Emission Tomography Computed Tomography OR pet AND Radiotherapy AND Planning and was constituted of 14 articles published in the period from 2013 to 2017.

Morphological defects of sperm in patients with normal sperm count

Sperm morphology is an important factor in analyzing male infertility. The assessment of the percentage of spermatozoa having an ideal morphology is done according to the WHO laboratory manual for semen analysis. Aim: To study the morphological defects of sperm with normal sperm counts. Materials and Methods: It is a prospective study. 86 cases with normal sperm count were included in the study. Morphology was analysed on Papanicolaou stained smears. The defects were categorized into: Head defects, neck defect, mid piece defect and tail defects.
