Equality in the Brazilian health system: considerations in the light of peter singer’s principles

Equality, its conceptualization and applicability, still pervade some discussions. Australian philosopher Peter Singer discussed equality and its implications, grounding his perspective on the principle of equal consideration of interests. Based on the proposal presented by this author, the present article aims to reflect on the principle of equality according to Peter Singer and to consider an articulation with the principles of the Brazilian health system.

Psychosocial well-being of the women living in the precarious districts of Abidjan

This study aims at identifying the indicators of psychosocial well-being of the women living in the precarious districts of Abidjan to make more effective development projects towards them. To this end, an investigation was led in precarious districts of six (06) municipalities of the city of Abidjan: Abobo, Cocody, Koumassi, Yopougon, Marcory, Port-Bouet. 682 women and girls were questioned by means of a questionnaire. They were also subdued in the test of self-respect of Rosenberg (1985).

Coping with chronic kidney disease: challenges experienced by hemodialysis users

Background: Chronic Renal Failure presents high mobility and mortality, sohemodialysis patients change their routine and need more support for coping with the diagnosis. This study aimed to identify the main difficulties experienced by patients undergoing hemodialysis. Method: A cross-sectional study with a sample size of 30 users from a renal replacement therapy clinic through a survey by Likert scale. It was stored and analyzed by SPSS version 18.0. Result: It was observed that 56.67% were males, 33.33% age range was 18 - 30, about the current health status, 40% said that was reasonable.

Caution on the thermoregulation of neonates in using of the humidified incubator

Identify the available evidence in the literature about the care with the use of humidified incubator for thermoregulation of premature newborns. Methods: integrative review that includes original articles published in scientific journals and without delimitation period. Among the 23 works found, they were analyzed seven productions indexed in basesSciense Direct, Ebsco Hostand Biomedical Literature Citations and Abstracts. Results: The temperature can be controlled in four ways: evaporation, conduction, convection and radiation.

Harmonization of accounting policies according to mandatory disclosures as imposed by (IFRS) the case of Greece

In the present research paper, the Van der Tas Herfindahl index or H index has been applied in order to verify the level of de facto harmonization, and accordingly comparability among the companies analyzed in this research. The primary objective of this dissertation is to determine the maturity level of harmonization degree for specific accounting methods since the mandatory implementation of IFRSs in 2005.The sample constituted by 100 Greek listed companies. The chosen companies were based on their market capitalization.

Evaluation of self-care in elder men with diabetes mellitus

Objective: To evaluate self-care in elderly men with diabetes mellitus. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach in which 96 elderly patients attended in an outpatient clinic of endocrinology of a university hospital attended. Data were collected through the Self-Care with Diabetes questionnaire presented through charts, and discussed in light of related literature. Results: The prevalence of the elderly was 60 and 80 years old, retired, brown, married and with low schooling.

The lack of knowledge about stress in air traffic controllers: A Systematic Review

Introduction: The success of air travels depends on air traffic controllers (ATC). ATCs are responsible for monitoring airspace, keeping the flow of air traffic safe, providing route information, and support for pilots during flight. All these responsibilities can cause an increase in the chance of developing physical and mental stress. Objective: the objective of this study was to carry out a systematic review about psychological and physiological stress in ATCs. Method: This article is a systematic review about stress in ATCs.

Best practices for sharing knowledge in a radiotherapy service

The sharing of knowledge is considered a complex phenomenon and recognized as the most important process in the knowledge conversion spiral. Thus, the purpose of this article is to understand the sharing of knowledge in a radiotherapy organization. For this, a qualitative research was carried out through semi-structured interviews with professionals of the multidisciplinary team of a radiotherapy service in Santa Catarina. Data collection took place between February and April 2018. Six professionals participated in the study. To analyze the data, the technique of content analysis was used.

Non-invasive diagnosis of peritoneal tuberculosis (preliminary results)

Background and Study Aims: Peritoneal biopsy remains the best diagnostic method for peritoneal tuberculosis in developing countries including Morocco, with significant morbidity and mortality. Hence the need to establish a non invasive diagnostic score of peritoneal tuberculosis from biochemical parameters measured in the ascites fluids. Malaysia is a middle-income country that developed in the 1970s, has become a supplier of raw materials in emerging economy. The economic growth of the country was mainly due to exports that include mainly electronics. Therefore, the country was hit by the global recession from 2001 to 2002. Moreover, the GDP of Malaysia grew by only 0.5% in 2001, due to a decline in estimated exports at 11%. However, as the substantial financial incentive of $ 1.9 billion minimized recession impact on the economy and the economy resumed in 2002 that was growing by 4.1%.
