Epidemiological profile of mortality from stroke in the brazilian northern region

Objective: To evaluate the sociodemographic profile of patients who progressed to death from stroke and identify the mortality rate. Method: Cross-sectional study using data from the Mortality Information System. Estimates of rates of deaths and odds ratios (OR) of death from stroke were performed in comparison to other causes of deaths between 2000-2015.

Evaluation of the heavy metal content of ugu leaf (telfaria occidentalis) collected from eke Okigwe Market, Imo State, Nigeria

This study evaluated the heavy metal content of ugu leaf (Telfaria occidentalis) collected from Eke Okigwe Market in Imo State, South Eastern Nigeria. The heavy metals including Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Manganese (Mn) and Lead (Pb) were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results revealed a significantly higher concentrations of Hg, Cd and Mn in T. occidentalis leaf beyond the World Health Organization (WHO) allowable limits of 0.001, 0.003 and 0.1435 mg/100g for Hg, Cd and Mn respectively (P<0.05). However, lead was not detected in the vegetable.

Sports and decentralization: An outline of a typology of municipal sports policies in Benin

The process of decentralization implemented in most of African countries and precisely in Benin by the years 2003 with the election of the town councilors transferred to the new municipalities competences in sport’s field. These competences lead the municipalities in the implementation of the municipal sporting policies with the intention of ensuring the sporting development of their territory: physical-activities and sporting considered as activities that came under general interest and public service mission.

Algorithm to detect nitrogen foliar deficiency in bean crops applying digital image processing and data mining

The determination of the Nitrogen correct application in bean crops, aiming to increase productivity and reduce costs with fertilizers, is a great challenge, which has a solution based on the use of precision farming tools. This work proposes the use of digital image processing techniques coupled with a data mining process aiming at the construction of a decision tree based algorithm for the definition of dose for the maximum production Nitrogen dosage to be applied by means of cover fertilization at focal points of the beans cultures.

Islamic approaches to human resource management in organizations

The purpose of this paper is to illustrate and explore the Islamic approaches and practices to human resource management (based on Al-Quran and Sunnah). The methodology adopted in this paper is based purely on qualitative approach. The study argues that one of the main cause for the hindrance and lack of progress and development in Islamic countries such as Pakistan is the disparity between universal integration and local receptiveness due to surplus advance circulation of western management and practices of business with small perceptive.

Active power flow control of wind-pv hybrid system using ai technique

Scarcity of power has been one of the nightmare issues for mankind in the modern age. Renewable Energy Sources (RES) working parallel with conventional power plants are playing a lead role in narrowing the difference between supply and demand. Among all the available renewable energy sources wind-solar hybrid systems are the most popular one. Due to their natural advantage of being complimentary to each other, they are assuring reliability to the utility.

Associated factors and prevalence of types of violence against women in cases of mandatory reports in the state of pará from 2014 to 2016

Violence is a daily phenomenon characterized as a social issue of multiple causes and factors that affects all social classes, especially the most defenseless individuals. Enhancement fuzzy goal programming approach for multi- item/ multi- supplier selection problem ina fuzzy environment

Supplier selection problem (SSP) is one of the important elements in supply chain management which provides a better decision tool for the selection of the supplier. In this paper, a multiple sourcing supplier selection (F-SSP) problem is introduced as a fully fuzzy multi- objective linear programming problem. While the F-SSP is converted into the corresponding -SSP based on the cut of the fuzzy numbers, an interactive fuzzy goal programming approach is applied to obtain the - best compromise solution.

Mechanical properties of miscanthus reinforced concrete

There has been an increasing interest in the use of vegetable-fiber-reinforced structural concrete elements in many countries recently. Vegetable fibers facilitate the production of structural elements that are cheaper, lighter and they improve the mechanical properties of the cement, and provide aural and thermal insulation. Vegetable fibers are preferred because they increase the ductility of the material; this has the important effect of improving dissipation capacity when fissures occur. In addition, the manufacturing cost of this material is very low.

Hypertension is multifactorial!

Background: Hypertension has been, worldwide, considered a multifactorial disease. This study aims to prove the multifactorial of hypertension and suggest a new line of research on improving stratification scores for risk identification for high blood pressure. Methods: This is a quantitative, an observational cross-sectional, descriptive and experimental.
