The influence of diabetes mellitus type 1 in the disease of dental cardiac and other oral affections

There are several types of Diabetes Mellitus, type 1 is a metabolic disease, chronic and multifactorial resulting in serious consequences to the human organism and e intraoral as periodontal diseases, dental cavity, xerostomia and change in salivary pH decreasing its protective effect and favoring an acidogenic environment increasing the incidence of dental caries in patients with Diabetes Mellitus.

Effects of annona muricata on the treatment and prevention of chronic degenerative diseases

The concern of the world population has been increasing due to the significant augmentation of people affected by chronic degenerative diseases. These diseases are usually caused by oxidative stress, so there is a growing interest in the discovery of natural substances as an alternative medical resource that can act as antioxidants. Authors have shown that Annona muricata L is associated with several benefits to human health and can be associated to improve risk factors of developing some chronic degenerative diseases.

The construct validity of the polish self-regulation questionnaire – learning (srq-l)

The content of this article focuses on the construct validity of the Polish Self-Regulation Questionnaire-Learning (SRQ-L). The assessment of students' level of self-regulation can be a powerful tool in enhancing and understanding students' functioning in the school environment. Theoretical consideration is based on the Theory of Self-Regulation by Deci & Ryan. The aim of the present study is to adapt, validate and determine the psychometric properties of the SRQ-L on a Polish student sample, consisting of 200 teenagers, ages 14–17 from middle schools.

Nursing team stress in intensive therapy units

This study aimed to characterize the stress of the nursing team in an intensive care unit. It is an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and quantitative study conducted between April and June 2016, with 93 professionals from the nursing team of three public hospitals in São Luís do Maranhão, Brazil. Three questionnaires, a semi-structured one composed by socioeconomic and occupational data, the Stress Inventory in Nursesand the Stress Symptom Scale were used.

Current potential of experiences with mindfulness in elderly people: integrative review

Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBI) have had positive results with elderly people, thus the purpose of this study was to analyze the scientific publications on the effects of Mindfulness on the elderly population. It is an integrative literature review based on the following steps: development of the guiding question; search for studies in databases; selection of papers; data extraction; evaluation of the selected studies; analysis and synthesis of the results; and review presentation.

Infections after abdominal surgery

Objectives: To determine surgical site infection (SSI) rates, after abdominal Surgery and To determine risk factors associated with surgical site infections. Settings: AL-Jumhoori Teaching Hospital, Department of surgery, Mosul Medical City, Mosul, Iraq. Starting from October 2007-October 2008. Patients and methods: A prospective cohort study included 78 patients with surgical site infection after elective and emergency abdominal surgery.

Cognitive decline and psychotropic drug use in elderly people with mental disorders: a narrative review

The growth in the number of older persons in the population is considered a worldwide phenomenon, with direct consequences in health systems. The pertinent literature points out an increase in the diagnosis of mental disorders and the prescription of psychotropic drugs for that population, as well as frequent complaints regarding cognition. The paper aims to discuss cognitive decline and its relationship with psychotropic drug use in aged people with mental disorders. The data collection method was based on the review of books and papers published between 2000 and 2018.

The community agent in the family health strategy: vision of the users in the municipality of quixadá – ce

The Family Health Strategy (ESF) has been playing a strategic role for the consolidation of the Unified Health System (SUS). Among these professionals, emphasis is placed on the Community Health Agent (ACS). This study aimed to know the vision of the users of the Basic Units of Family Health (UBS) on the ACS. This is a descriptive, exploratory, quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out during the month of March 2013, being executed in three UBS in the municipality of Quixadá, through a Form. The sample consisted of 60 users who were approached while awaiting service.

Exclusive breastfeeding, socioeconomic and gestation profile of users of primary and hospital care

Breastfeeding is a natural and effective act and its success depends on the socioeconomic factors of the infant. The objective of the study was to characterize the socioeconomic and gestational profile of women, identify the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding among their children, describe characteristics of prenatal care and delivery, and verify whether they received prenatal care.
