A comparative evaluation of flexural strength of composite resins on glass fibre reinforcement

Aim: To evaluated the effects of glass fibre layering on the flexural strength of hybrid and microfill composites. Methodology: A stainless steel mold of dimension (25x2x2 mm) was used to fabricate a total of 90 speimens of corresponding dimensions according to the groups-control and experimental groups. A 3-point bending test was carried out to assess the flexural strength. Load was applied on the specimens by using a universal testing machine, at crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. The fracture load was recorded in kilo Newton which then converted to mega Pascal.

Incidence of retinal detachment after macular surgery, a retrospective study

A retrospective non randomised study of 634 macular surgery procedures was undertaken in two academic centres. Idiopathic macular hole (IMH) surgery (n = 272) and epiretinal membrane (ERM) surgery (n = 362) were performed between 2008 and 2011. We noted the anatomical and functional results of these procedures and we studied serious complications excluding cataract. Minimum follow up was 1 year. No retinal detachment (RD) occurred in patients presenting with an intraoperative or preoperative successfully treated retinal break (RB).

Effects of electroacupuncture on body mass index and quality of life of nurses from gaffrée and guinle university hospital

Nurses in Brazilian hospitals tend to be overstressed. The aim of this study was to observe the effects of electroacupuncture on the body mass index (BMI) and quality of life (QoL) of nurses from the Gaffrée and Guinle University Hospital (HUGG). Seventy-two female nurses from the HUGG team were randomly assigned to an experimental group (EG; n = 36) and submitted to ten electroacupuncture sessions or to a control group (CG; n = 36). QoL was assessed using the WHOQOL-100 questionnaire. The body measurements analyzed were BMI, Pollock’s sum of 7 skinfolds and fat percentage.
