Total phenolic content and antioxidant potential of ‘ora-pro-nobis’ leaves: an in vitro comparative study between pereskia aculeata miller and pereskia grandifolia haw

The ora-pro-nobis is an unconventional vegetable belonging to the genus Pereskia and native to South America. In Brazil, the two species P. aculeata and P. grandifolia are native to the Atlantic Forest and their leaves are widely used for the preparation of different regional dishes. The aim of the present work was to evaluate, in a comparative fashion, the total phenolic contents and antioxidant potentials of P. aculeata and P. grandifolia leaves.

Characterization of the alteration profile of fractured aquifers in the agnibilekrou department (east of Cote D’Ivoire)

This study focuses on improving knowledge of the geometry and structure of the alteration profile of the various composite parts of aquifers in the Agnibilékrou department (East Côte d'Ivoire). The interpretation of the vertical electrical soundings and the drilling logs showed a strong variation in the thicknesses of alteration ranging from 2 to 70 m. The alterites are approximately 33 m, 45 m and 50 m respectively at Siakakro, N’guessankro and Mossikro. They generally consist of topsoil, alteration clays and schistose clays.

Species richness of pycnogonida and echinodermata associated with the reef ecosystems of morro de são paulo on tinharé island in Northeastern Brazil

Invertebrates associated with the reef ecosystems of Morro de São Paulo on Tinharé Island in the state of Bahia, northeastern Brazil were studied from samplescollected in January and September 2015. A total of 119 individuals belonging to 26 species and 16 families were identified among Pycnogonida and Echinodermata. The families Ophiactidae and Ophiodermatidae (Echinodermata) were the most representative taxa. The most abundant families were Ophiactidaeand Amphiuridae (Echinodermata) with 76 individuals.

Sources of psychrotrophic contamination and proteolysis indices in raw milk

Storage of raw milk under refrigeration makes it possible to reduce operating costs for production and prevents losses of this raw material by the acidifying activity of mesophilic bacteria. Meantime, storage for prolonged periods may result in decreased quality of dairy products, due to the growth and enzymatic activity of psychrotrophic bacteria. Thus, in this study, we evaluated the presence of psychrotrophic microorganisms, Pseudomonas spp.

Morphological characteristics of the in formalized corps: an observational study

Introduction: The presence of a hepatic peduncle in the right lobe is characteristic of an accessory lobe called the Riedel lobe. This lobe is an anatomical anomaly prevalent in females. Objective: To acquire knowledge of the anatomical anomaly, the objective was to conduct a study of the morphological characteristics of the Riedel lobe in a formalized corpse. Methods: The work is based on a descriptive and observational study. The sample consisted of a formalized male corpse from the Human Anatomy Laboratory of the University of Brazil.

Photodynamic therapy in the treatment of esophagus cancer: a systematic review

Introduction: Photodynamic Therapy has emerged as a treatment option for cancer, especially in the early stages. The therapy is based on the activation of a photosensitive agent through light radiation, forming reactive oxygen molecules that will react with the tumor cells, causing their death. Objective: The objective of this study was to conduct a literature review study on photodynamic therapy in the treatment of esophageal cancer.

A systematic review of the work and mental health relationship: major approaches on the burnout syndrome

Introduction: In the context of mental health and its relationship to work, current working hours are longer and standardized. Shift work is prevalent worldwide. It is estimated that approximately 15-20% of employers use a work shift system in industrialized countries around the world. Shift work may be associated with mental health. In addition, authors have recently published a secondary analysis of data provided by the Burnout Project, Motivation and Job Satisfaction, examining the associations between unnecessary work tasks and a decrease in mental health.
