Sewage-based epidemiology and covid-19 in Brazil: a necessary discussion

The study aimed to gather evidence about the occurrence of SARS-CoV-2 in feces and sanitary sewage, in addition to discussing the potential ities of sewage-based epidemiology in the face of the current pandemic. A literature review was carried out in the first week of May 2020 at the Web of Science, SciELO, Scopus, CAPES Publications Portal. Few studies have reported the presence of genetic traits of SARS-CoV-2 in feces and sewers so far. However, the analyses direct the epidemiology of sewage to be considered in the discussions for surveillance of COVID-19, given the expansion of cases.

Between nerds and geeks: creativity at comic con

Based on the complexity theory, this objective study aims to acknowledge and characterize creativity at the Comic Con Experience 2017/2018/2019 pop culture event for young people, held in São Paulo, Brazil. This is a case study, using a qualitative approach involving observation, filming, photographs and notes of the social and cultural context favoring creativity developed not by chance, but constructed in synergy with environmental, conative, cognitive and emotional factors. In environments that encourage flexibility and divergent thinking, the imagination soars and creative levels rise.

Introduction to computer science with unplugged computing at different teaching levels

This work focused on the development of a methodological proposal based on the principles and foundations of Unplugged Computing (CD), in order to develop playful activities related to the introduction of computer science without using the computer and outdoors. The proposal was applied to two different classes, one from the 9th grade of elementary school at Escola Comunitária de Augustinópolis (ESCA) and the other from the 2nd year of high school at Colégio Estadual Manoel Vicente de Souza (CEMVS), both in Augustinópolis-TO.

Homicide dynamics in the city of Belém-Pará-Brazil

The issue regarding violence and crime has ceased to be a debate conducted only by public security agencies, being discussed now in academia. In 2016, the Belém-Pará city presented a rate of 77 homicides per 100 thousand inhabitants, and emerges as one of the most violent capitals of Brazil. This study seeks to investigate the dynamics of homicides in Belém and present the profile of the occurrences. The research has a quantitative approach, from secondary data of the homicide crime, in the period from 2017 to 2018. The statistical technique of descriptive analysis was used.

Physicochemical characterization and bioactive potential of momordica charantia L

Interest has grown to evaluate the use of underutilized plants, and plant by-products as sources of food ingredients to ameliorate the food security problem in the world. In this context, the aim of this work was to describe and quantify the main nutritional and bioactive compounds present in an unconventional and underutilized food fruit (Momordica charantia) found in southern Brazil. The physicochemical analyzes and antioxidant activity of peel and pulp fruit were performed.

Mães que amamentam e cumprem jornada de trabalho: revisão integrativa

Objetivo: Identificar o conhecimento produzido e publicado quanto às dificuldades relacionadas ao trabalho enfrentadas por mães que amamentam e cumprem jornada de trabalho no Brasil. Método: Revisão integrativa realizada entre setembro e outubro de 2017, nas bases de dados PUBMED, LILACS e SCIELO. Resultados: Foram analisadas 21 produções, agrupadas em categorias com enfoque nas principais dificuldades enfrentadas pelas mães ao amamentar e cumprir jornada de trabalho.

Qualidade de vida do paciente transplantado renal: revisão integrativa da literatura

A Doença Renal Crônica é caracterizada pela perda progressiva da função renal, gerando alterações na homeostase do organismo do portador desta doença, além de alterações psicossociais que consequentemente afetam a qualidade de vida (QV). O objetivo do estudo foi identificar na literatura brasileira estudos que avaliaram a qualidade de vida em pacientes transplantados renais. Trata-se de uma Revisão Integrativa da Literatura, realizada nas bases de dados SciELO, MEDLINE, LILACS e BDENF.

Medicinal plants used in street markets in different regions of Brazil

In Brazil, markets and street markets emerged in 1841 as a solution for the regional supply of products. Street markets and municipal markets constitute a privileged space for traditional expressions and cultures about their ethnobotanical heritage since these places are centers of large numbers of information, underlying an environment of intense cultural exchanges. Bibliographic surveys were carried out on medicinal plants used in Street markets in different regions of Brazil.

Association between work ability and quality of life for taxi drivers

The transport made by taxi drivers allows the ease of locomotion, however these professionals have particularities in their work that can impact on their work ability and quality of life. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of life and, work ability and its association with sociodemographic and occupational factors of taxi drivers. A cross-sectional study was carried out with 113 taxi drivers. For the data collection, a questionnaire was used (refined) for sociodemographic-occupational data.

The relationship between blood test, pas score and outer diameter of the appendix in the diagnosis of pediatric acute appendicitis

Acute appendicitis is the common cause of surgery for acute abdominal pain in children. We ought to assess the relationship between white blood cell count, PAS (pediatric appendicitis score) clinical scoring and the measurement of the outer diameter of the appendix. This study includes 480 pediatric patients who underwent surgery for suspected acute appendicitis at the General Surgery Department of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health hospital between May 2019 and December 2019.
