Evaluating a peer mentoring programme for hard-to-reach youth

Peer mentoring is widely used in counselling, guidance, and vocational, socio-psychological support for young people at risk involving one-to-one structured interaction with another young individual. The ‘Young People’s Program’ is a preventative intervention project designed to provide learning and thinking skills in young people in order to develop social awareness, interpersonal skills and increase their chances of employability. The article outlines the program set-up, selection of participants, including the program’s challenges, outcomes and impact on those involved.

Strengthening capacity building for disaster management in taraba state: A panacea for sustainable development

Disaster occurs almost every day and managing these disasters when they occur has been very challenging. Africa is one of the regions most affected by man-made and natural disasters and with the least capacity to cope with disaster management. This paper examines the challenges of disaster management and how to strengthen capacity building of stakeholders particularly the local communities to be better prepared for disasters when they occur.

In recent years governments in many parts of the world have been attaching importance to gender issues. The Agricultural sector has been confirmed by numerous studies to be the backbone of almost all the economies in the sub-Saharan region. The study utilized the Longitudinal Survey Research Design; the target population is former Internally Displaced Persons.

Study of marriage related attitude of degree holder girls in Nagpur District- A sociological study

Education play an important role in the socialization process of man. The effective educational environment boost the personality development. In Indian society, girls kept on secondary place on different areas. This article focus on contents related to girls education. It also includes and takes reviews about the problems in education process. The attitude and awareness about marriage among the degree holder of girl students is the center area of this article. Data has been collected from girl students who are having the degree in different stream.

The role of human rights with context to India

Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. We are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. These rights are all interrelated, interdependent and indivisible. Human rights are natural rights which awarded to every individual. Universal human rights are often expressed and guaranteed by law, in the forms of treaties, customary international law, general principles and other sources of international law.

Students’ awareness and their use of African virtual university open courseware: A case of the Open University of Tanzania

This paper examined students’ awareness, use and acceptance of the African Virtual University open courseware at the Open University of Tanzania. This explanatory study used qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis using the framework of the Unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model.

A comparative study on academic achievement and intelligence of class x students of Jawaharnavodayavidyalaya and Kendriyavidyalaya in Lakhimpur District, Assam

The present study dealt with the academic achievement and intelligence of class X students of JawaharNavodayaVidyalaya and KendriyaVidyalaya in Lakhimpur district, Assam. The sample consisted of 120 students (60 JNV and 60 KV). Group Test of Mental Ability by Dr. S. Jalota (1976) was used to find out intelligence of students and for measuring academic achievement the Board Examination marks of the students were used. The main finding of the study was that the students of JNV and KV differ significantly on both intelligence and academic achievement.

Corrosion inhibition effect of tea byproduct water extract on mild steel in h2so4 and application

Water extract of green tea byproducts was examined as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in H2SO4 acid solution using the open circuit potential (Eoc) measurement, the polarization technique and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The Eoc measurement and polarization studies showed a strong corrosion inhibition of the extract. Eoc and the inhibition efficiency (H) were found to increase with increasing the extract quantity in the acid solution. The corrosion inhibition of the extract affected both anodic and cathodic reactions.

Neurocysticercosis in the HIV era: A case report and review of the literature

The prevalence of HIV is increasing in countries where neurocysticercosis is endemic. Co-infection rates are expected to rise; however, no systematic reviews of the subject are available. We performed a literature review of neurocysticercosis (NCC) occurring in HIV-infected patients and described the clinical and immunophenotypic characteristics of a NCC case presenting with probable immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome. We identified 27 cases of NCC-HIV co-infection. The most frequent presentation (61%) was with multiple parenchymal lesions.
