The effects of commercial fishing, tourism and climate change on magellanic penguin populations in Chile, Argentina and the Falkland Islands

Magellanic penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) only breed in Chile, Argentina and the Falkland Islands. Our research compares the status of colonies in each of these countries. On Magdalena Island in Chile, an increase from 59,000 pairs in 2000/01 to 63,000 pairs in 2008/2009, was reversed by a severe drought in 2009, causing a decline to 43,000 pairs by 2018/19. This decline goes against the regional trend. The neighbouring colony on Contramaestra Island was not affected by the drought and has increased from 400 pairs in 1990/91 to 26,000 pairs by 2019/20.

Effects of plantation density on jatropha curcas l. growth and production, on tropical ferruginous soil in Burkina Faso

Management methods in farm are an essential factor in improving Jatropha curcas development and fruit production. Reduction of cultivable land under demographic pressure, requires researching densities that allow a better expression of Jatropha curcas. It is in this context that this study was initiated. The design is a complete randomized block with 3 repetitions and 4 treatments which are following planting densities: T1 = 1 m x 1 m, T2 = 2 m x 2 m; T3 = 3m x 3m; T4 = 4 m x 4 m. The elementary plot, extends over 12m x 12m.Growth and production parameters were monitored for 52 months.

Prevalence of phytopathogenicaspergillus niger and aspergillus flavus isolated from various samples in Bangladesh

The study was carried out to survey of fungi associated with the determination of fruits, vegetables and betel leaves were collected and two strains of pathogenic fungi- Aspergillus niger and A. flavus were isolated, identified from 45 collected samples in two different zones (southwestern and central) of Bangladesh. In betel leaves, both isolated fungi were showed their highest percentage of frequency (A. niger- 66.66% and A. flavus- 46.66%) where A. niger showed more pathogenic than A. flavus.

Craniothoracopagus (monocephalus dipygus tetrabrachius) in twin pigs

The objective of this study was to report a case of craniothoracopagus, monocephalus, dipygus, tetrabrachius in swine, created in anthropized areas of the Amazon forest for the implementation of livestock. During the physical examination, we observed that lesions were characterized by monocephaly and presence of a midline that became more evident in the nose region, with two snouts and four nostrils. The oral cavity was unique with total duplication of the lower jaw and tongue.

Large hydroelectric projects in the araguari river basin: territorialities, impact and resistance of amapá’s fishing (Amazon, Amapá, Brazil)

This article points out the case of fishing communities in the Araguari river basin, placed in the Amazonian state of Amapá (Northern Brazil). This is a classic case study of socioenvironmental conflict between small traditional communities against large structural projects set up within a territorial planning that do not consider local territorialities. Mining and mainly large hydroelectric power plants threat traditional fisherman way of life.

Disease control in pod bean (Phaseolus Vulgaris L.) with trichodermaasperellum, milk in natura and fungicides

The aimed of this work was to evaluate the effect of foliar application of milk in natura, Trichodermaasperellum and different fungicides in the control of angular leaf spot (Pseudocercosporagriseola), white mold (Sclerotiniasclerotiorum) and anthracnose (Colletotrichumlindemuthianum), in the cultivar of common beans low butter pod, in the field. The design used was a randomized block, with 7 treatments and 4 repetitions.

Studies have shown the participation of minerals, such as selenium, involved in the antioxidant defense of patients with chronic kidney disease. Therefore, the purpose of this review is to provide data on nutrient participation in the control of the antioxidant defense system in individual’s withchronic renal disease. A search of articles published in the PubMed and ScienceDirect database selected from March 2017 to February 2019 was performed using the keywords Selenium, Selenium supplementation, Oxidative stress, Antioxidant and Chronic Kidney Disease.
