Studies on the effect of nutrient management practices on the growth and yield of sweet corn

A field experiment was conducted during summer, 2015 to study the response of sweet corn (Zea mays L) to various nutrient management practices, laid out in randomized block design with three replications that comprises of viz., T¬1 Control, T2 RDF alone (135 : 62.5 : 50) kg NPK ha-1, T3 RDF + Micro nutrient mixture @ 20 kg ha-1,T4 RDF + Soil application of humic acid @ 50 kg ha-1, T5 125% RDF alone, T6 125% RDF + Micro nutrient mixture @ 20 kg ha-1,T7 125% RDF + Soil application of humic acid @ 50 kg ha-1, T8 RDF + Micro nutrient mixture @ 20 kg ha 1+ soil application of humic acid @ 50 kg

Pattern of electrocardiographic changes in diabetes patients: data from a rural teaching hospital

Background: Cardiovascular system has been involved in patients with diabetes in various ways. It is very important to know the electrocardiographic changes that can occur in patients with diabetes.
Methods: The electrocardiographic changes were studied in 50 cases with diabetes and compared with 50 healthy age and sex matched controls.

Characterizations of cd34+ stem cells from hematopoietic stem cells (hscs)

Stem cells are unspecialized cells in the human body that are capable of becoming specialized cells, each with new specialized cell functions. Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) originated from mesodermal hemangioblast cells which have an ability to self-renew and multipotent nature. These HSCs usually express CD34+ and CD133+ glycoproteins on their surface and antibodies raised against these surface glycoproteins are the best exploited matter in the purification steps. CD34+ is a cluster of differentiation molecule presents on certain cells within the human body.

Ranking of provinces in turkey according to numbers of animals through factor analysis

In this study, the level of development of provinces in Turkey in regard to numbers of animals were investigated through factor analysis. A total of 13 animal typesin 81 provinces were investigated in the scope of the study. Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin (KMO) coefficient of factor analysis was identified as 0.617 and Bartlett global test significance value was identified as 0.000.Accordingly, the data set was appreciated as suitable for factor analysis.4 factors, eigenvalues of which were greater than 1 were identified in factor analysis.

Cyclic voltammetric quantification of the amino compounds with special reference to naphthyl amine at various solid electrodes

The voltamatric behavior of some  aromatic amino compound, such as alpha naphthyl amine and beta naphthyl amine was investigated and the method was developed for the simultaneous determination of these compounds. Adsorption of alpha naphthyl amine and beta naphthyl amine at solid electrode such as platinum and gold has been studied using cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep techniques. It was found that pH greatly influences characteristics of naphthyl amine.

Determinants of milk cooling plant adoption and intensity of use by small holder farmers in Nandi County, Kenya: A bi-probit analysis

Agricultural growth is considered a very close link to rural development and hence poverty alleviation. There’s therefore an urgent need for sustainable increase in agricultural productivity through adoption of new and efficient technologies to improve food security, alleviate poverty and stimulate economic growth.

Prevalence of flu-like syndrome among chronic hepatitis c infected patients treated with the first line combination therapy (pegylated interferon α-2a and ribavirin)

Flu-like symptoms usually occur during the first weeks of treatment with administration of pegylated interferon α-2a and severity declines thereafter. These symptoms include fever, chills, headache, arthralgia, and myalgia.

Comparative study of gene expression data set using biclustering methods

Expression technology, such as high density DNA microarray, allows us to monitor gene expression patterns at the genomic level. Advent of this technology leads to the new challenges of extracting biologically relevant knowledge from such large gene expression data sets. As a result, data mining of gene expression data has become an important area of research for biologists. Suitable mining techniques will contribute to get into the insight of the gene-gene relationships and that may further lead to discover hidden facts related to any species or microbes.

Prenatal exposure to valproic acid and gabapentin on maternal, fetal, neonatal weight gain and postnatal development

Weight gain in adult patients with hyperphagia is the main concern of long term antiepileptic therapy, but little concern has been taken in pregnant women and their fetal development (weight) as well as long- lasting impact on postnatal growth of the offspring.Sperm positive female C.F. rats were exposed to different doses of Valproic acid (VPA) (50,100 and 200mg/kg body weight) and Gabapentin (GBP) (300 and 400 mg/kg) from gestation day (GD) 0-20 orally with control subjects.Maternal food intake and body weight gain were recorded daily.

Effect of inclusion of research projects on academic outcome of medical undergraduate students

The number of undergraduates involved in research activities is very less in Indian medical Colleges. Usually they are focused towards their academic performance and find research activities as time consuming and totally extracurricular. In this study we tried to observe any positive or negative effect of doing short term research on academic performance and at the sametime we tried to obtain students' personal views on doing research AIM: We focused on analyzing the effect of research on academic performance of undergraduate Medical students.
