Study of chemical composition and antimicrobial activity of mud dauber wasps nest soil

This study involves determination of the chemical composition of wasp’s nest soil and simple clay soil. The samples were analyzed at Biotech Lab. S.D. (PG) College Sri Ganganagar, a high standard laboratory with sophisticated equipments. Research showed that it builds nest by excreting saliva to mixture of water and various building materials which include paper and clay soil. The nest soil was found to be higher in concentration of phosphorus, magnesium, chloride, potassium (very low amount), calcium, phenol and iron.

Isolation and biochemical characterization of phytase from different sources

Phytase (myo-inositolhexakisphosphate phosphohydrolase) catalyzes the hydrolysis of myo-inositol hexakisphosphate (phytic acid) to inorganic monophosphate and lower myo-inositol phosphates, and in some cases to free myo-inositol. Two bacterial strains, one fungal strain and one plant source were screened for phytate degradation viz. Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Bacillus subtilis (ATCC 6633), Aspergillus niger (ATCC 16888) and Glycine max (JS-335). Among these, B.

Evaluation of packaging materials for transportation of apple

Studies were carried out for two consecutive years (2013-2014) to identify appropriate packaging materials for transportation of apples. Fruits of Red Delicious cultivar harvested on 3rd week of September were packed in different types of Corrugated Fiber Board boxes and transported from Jumla (2390m a.s.l., 29017’ N, 82013’ E) to Kohalpur, Banke (215 km mountainous gravel road, 48 hours) by truck. The treatments were 10 kg capacity 5 Ply and 7 Ply CFB boxes having 140, 160 and 180 PSI bursting strength.

Multidimensional analysis of fisheries sustainability in traditional use zone of misool, raja ampat, Indonesia

Traditional Use Zone (TUZ) within Marine Protected Area (MPA) of Misool Island, Raja Ampat is allocated for traditional fisheries. It is expected that the fisheries would be benefited from management actions taken in the conservation area. The present study aims to assess the sustainability status of the fisheries by using multidimensional analysis. Results of the analysis showed that both handline fishery targeting groupers and liftnet fishery targeting anchovies fishing in the TUZ were categorized as "less sustainable".
