Physicochemical characterization of films formulated from achatina fulica mucus fed with medicinal plants

The cutaneous mucus released by tropical mollusks of the Achatina fulica species, in front of a plasticizer, forms a network that provides stability to the mucus thus forming a biopolymer film and its derivatives have recognized fungicidal, bactericidal and healing properties.

The present study is focused on the identification of plant proteins, which interact with the newly isolated type A peroxiredoxin protein LeTPx1, using the two-hybrid assay. The leTPx1 cDNA was initially identified as an interacting protein to the glutathione S-transferase/peroxidase BI-GST/GPx (Kampranis, Damianova et al., 2000). The two-hybrid screen is a powerful tool for the characterization of protein-protein interaction using yeast as a model system. To this end, we generated a LexA-LeTPx1 “bait” fusion and screened a tomato library cloned into the activation domain vector pJG4-5.

Basic cashmere quality indicators of goats of zalaajinst- edren cashmere breed

In the present A work on selective breeding aimed at further consolidation of key qualities of the race of Zalaajinst- Edren white goats towards increased length and fineness of fibers and upgrading phenotypic characteristics (Dorjbat Yo, 2013) resulted in identification of major productive and phenotypic parameters. Four analogically selected age/sex groups such as: young male and females, and adult females (does) and males (bucks) out of the herd of goats of Zalaajinst-Edren cashmere breed kept under year-round pasture grazing were sampled for studies on cashmere quality and quantity.

Total particulate matter from combustion of cashew nut shell exacerbates lung injury in ova-induced asthma model

Air pollution, even at levels below that allowed by official agencies, can significantly affect the environment and health. Our hypothesis is that exposure to atmospheric pollutants, specifically total particulate matter (TPM) from the combustion of cashew nut shell (CNS), in the individuals at risk group (previous respiratory disease) may exacerbate the harmful effects to the respiratory system. Accordingly, we performed analyses of respiratory mechanics and micromechanics and histopathology and morphometry of lung parenchyma.

Changes in the respiratory system of rats exposed to gases from the combustion of cashew nuts shell

The term biomass describes all organic matter that, when burned, decomposed or recycled, can directly and/or indirectly generate some form of mechanical, thermal or electrical energy. Brazil is one of the largest producers of agricultural products in the world, making it also one of the largest producers of residual biomass. Due to its importance in the cashew crop, there is a concern to find alternatives for an environmentally safe disposal for the residual biomass of the cashew nut processing, cashew nut shell (CNS).

Genipapo flour addition in cereal bars: Study with child consumers

The aim of the study was to evaluate the sensory acceptability of cereal bars with the addition of several levels of genipapo flour (GF) among children. Additionally, we wanted to determine the physicochemical composition of the control product and of the one with a higher GF level, and which formulation would have an acceptability level similar to the control product. Five cereal bars formulations were developed with the addition of different levels of GF: F1 (0%), F2 (1%), F3 (2%), F4 (3%) and F5 (4%).

Water for people and the environment

Water is an essential part of our everyday life, yet for most of us especially those living in urban areas, we probably do not think about water very often. We have come to expect that water will be there when we turn on our faucet. Only if we turn on our tap and nothing comes out, or if the water tastes bad or smells strange, or if we find our home flooded by a nearby creek during a heavy rain, do we give much thought to water. Our relative lack of attention to water is rapidly becoming a luxury that we in Texas cannot afford.

The trajectory of the common agricultural policy and its impact on portuguese agriculture following accession to the European Union

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) has featured as a priority on the European Economic Community (EEC), now the European Union (EU), agenda ever since its founding by the Treaty of Rome in 1957. At that time, the CAP, in addition to fulfilling an economic function, also took on a significant social role: guaranteeing social and territorial cohesion and a decent standard of living to farmers alongside the supply of foodstuffs at generally accessible prices.

A study of the characteristics of hyper-connected society and the change of the security

Paradigm and analysis of the security paradigm change in regard to the recognition of hyper-connected society characteristics of information technology development. As a result, in hyper-connected society each part constitutes one device, and the combination of each device constitutes one individual, equipment, or infrastructure, and the network to which they are connected consists of a country, and such countries have a connection structure that forms a global network .

Survival ability of resistant isolate of fusarium oxysporum f.sp.capsici in mixed population

In the present investigations was designed to explore the survival ability of benomyl resistant Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.capsici causing chilli wilt (Capsicum annum) in mixed population. On the untreated chilli plants, resistant population in the mixture was reduced from passage to passage. But on the benomyl treated chilli plants, resistant population was increased from passage to passage.
