Aim: The purpose of this study was to verify and compare the clinical profile, walking activity, and joint angle and perimetry of the lower limbs of women with and without gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)during a period of hospitalization and to determine the relationship between walking activity andlower limb joint angle.

Introduction: nurses are responsible for assessing and monitoring changes in patients’ conditions, coordinating care, administering medications accurately and communicating with patients and their families. It is necessary to manage staff and cooperative that the nurse must deal with the patient. Palliative care is the exercise of the art of caring combined with scientific knowledge, in which an association of science and art provides relief from suffering related to a disease.

Hepatic abscess secondary to perforation of the gastrointestinal tract by toothpick

The ingestion of a strange body is not a rare clinical condition, but it can be very serious, which can cause an important posterior complication, in which liver abscess stands out, a serious and extremely uncommon condition. Report the case of a patient with a secondary liver abscess to ingestion of a foreign body. This study was observational, descriptive, unparalleled, without funding, with a single sample. The information was obtained through the analysis of the patient's medical record, laboratory and image exams, monitoring of clinical and surgical conducts and literature review.

Sexuality in postmenopausal women in Africa: 519 case reports

Objective: It aimed to appreciate the quality and the experience of sexuality in postmenopausal women in Africa. Materials and methods: Our work is a monocentric cross-sectional study that is both descriptive and analytical. The survey was conducted on 519 postmenopausal women using an anonymous questionnaire. The choice of women was made at random in various units (hospitalization, delivery room, outpatient clinic, gynaecological emergencies) of the Teaching Hospital of Cocody.

Bibliographic study of factors that influence the non-adhesion to treatment in patients with bipolar affective disorder

Review of clinical studies dealing with bipolar affective disorder (BD) in order to identify the main factors that contribute to non-adherence to treatment, as well as to identify proposals and suggestions that can minimize this problem. The methodology used is based on the Scielo, BIREME and Pubmed databases. 35 studies were selected that were related to the theme non-adherence to treatment in bipolar patients, referring to the period from 2005 to 2019.

Nursing care in contemporary liquidity

Objective: To reflect on the relationship between nursing care in the contemporary social media and liquidity of human relationships. Method: Theoretical-reflective essay, built from the theoretical propositions of the concept of liquid modernity by Zygmunt Bauman. Results: Social media are presented as new alternatives for the nursing care process, requiring a critical argument about the use of these internet tools for this purpose.

Hemodynamic instability in a hemophilic patient: clinical case report

Hemophiliac patients may present emergency situations related to large volume bleeding and secondary hemodynamic instability, such as hypovolemia.A 33-year-old female patient with a history of type 1 Diabetes Mellitus since childhood, myelodysplasia diagnosed 4 years ago with a history of monthly blood transfusions, was referred to the emergency room of a public hospital due to a persistent hemorrhage in right upper limb raffia.

Evaluation of auriculotherapy in pain reduction in patients with temporomandibular dysfunction

Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD), characterized by pain in the masticatory muscles and temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Auriculotherapy, according to Chinese medicine, represents a microsystem of the body where there are specific points for pain treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of auriculotherapy in reducing pain in TMD patients. We evaluated patients who sought the dental clinic of the University of West Santa Catarina complaining of orofacial pain. Thirty-three patients with TMD were selected by the American Orofacial Pain Association (AAPO) questionnaire.
