Far beyond the office: a multifaceted analysis of gait in neurological patients

Introduction: The gait can be defined as a cyclic pattern, in the biped posture, which uses the lower limbs for propulsion of the body. In the field of Neurology, walking in the physical examination represents signs in the neurological evaluation, which assist in closing diagnoses. In the clinical environment, especially in the offices, the refinement of the gait evaluation is restricted to the experience of the clinician, because the space is often reduced, the time inadequate for evaluation. Few reports in the literature address this issue.

The Covid-19 outbreak caused a joint movement of researchers from around the globe in a way never before seen in the history of modern science, with the purpose of elucidating the entire pathophysiology of the disease, caused by the Sars-Cov-2 virus, and its systemic alterations that go beyond the involvement of the respiratory system. There is now widespread interest in investigating a relationship between Sars-Cov-2 infection and the involvement of other systems, such as the central nervous system, on triggers for manifestations such as Guillain-Barré Syndrome, and dysautonomia.

The understanding of stillbirths and its importance globally

Stillbirth occurs worldwide and the rate of incidence changes according to the region. The low-income countries usually have the highest numbers of cases but middle and high-income countries also have significant stillbirth rates. Unfortunately, the situation remains undervalued despite the incidence globally. This literature review has the objective of broadening the understanding of the causes, risk factors, investigations and its distribution of stillbirths so as to achieve approaches to prevent stillbirth and to comprehend the importance globally.

Peripheral neuropathy induced by exemestane: a case report and literature review

Introduction: Breast cancer represents the second leading cause of death among women from cancer in the world. Within this context, the use of adjuvant endocrine therapy is recommended to prevent the recurrence of this injury. Although aromatase inhibitors significantly decrease the recurrence of this neoplasia in women after menopause, such drugs can be associated with important adverse effects.

Potential fungistatic and fungicidal activity of essential oils in dermatomycosis

Objectives: The aimed to evaluate the fungistatic and fungicidal activity ofessential oils (EOs), against fungi that cause dermatomycosis. Design: The study design was experimental, with in vitro tests, with a control group and treatments. Setting: Fungal species Trichophyton rubrum ATCC MYA 4438, T. mentagrophytes var. interdigitale ATCC MYA 4439, Candida albicans ATCC 14053, and C. parapsilosis ATCC 22019, in addition to clinical samples of Fusarium spp., Scytalidium spp., and T. mentagrophytes were used in this study.

Bioethical reflections on assisted reproduction in advanced age

Research design: This is an integrative review of studies published between 2010 and 2015 in international journals, published in English, Spanish and Portuguese,was conducted in the PubMed and Scopus platforms.Eight articles were found, andtwo were selected. The latter addressed ethical-legal issues that justify a coercion of autonomy that makes it difficult for women in advanced ages to access assisted reproduction.
