This article analyses the food insecurity situation in Africa and Zambia in particular. This article argues that the food insecurity situation that has rocked many countries in Africa is as a result of mismanagement of the farming industry by most governments; and also the church not playing its prophetic role to actively participating in agriculture and food production to enhance food security and dignity of life.

Calcium levels in the developing tali of human fetuses

The mineral component is the main constituent of bone and is important as it confers much of the hardness and rigidity to bone. Among all mineral, calcium is the major determinant of its mechanical properties. In the present study human fetal tali have been analyzed for calcium concentration, information is lacking in literature. None of the earlier studies considered calcium concentration in talus of human fetuses.

Firm financial perfomance prior to delisting: a case study of intefresh holdings limited and the Zimbabwe stock exchange

This paper seeks to establish whether Interfresh Holding’s financials were relevant in signalling there being a probability of delisting prior to management’s decision at an Extra-Ordinary general meeting. The study makes use of the published financials from as far back as 2009 up to those published a year before the decision to delist. Key financial and performance indicators are analysed and the trend noted and contrasted to other findings in different economic set-ups.

MSME sector is in tremendous growth in the state of Chhattisgarh, with the sustainable development and progressive policies of Government this sector is able to retain and handle their employees and workers satisfactorily.  The paper focuses on the “LEADERSHIP SKILLS” of the entrepreneurs. The silent exclusion of first generation learners from educational scenario-a profile from puncha block of Purulia District,West Bengal

First generation learners are the first one in their entire generation to go to school and to receive education. This exceptional nature makes them “special need children”. Uneducated parents fail to provide any educational, vocational or personal guidance to their children because there is no provision of appropriate educational environment at home. The present study encompasses the first generation learners of Puncha block of Puruliya district.

Body mass index of nepalese medical students: A cross-sectional study

Background: Obesity, usually defined by body mass index (BMI), has become a global public health threat by its epidemic proportions. The prevalence of obesity and overweight in Nepalese medical students has not been reported.
Methods: A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted in two private sector medical colleges of Nepal. BMI was calculated based on self-reported height and weight of the students and students were grouped into categories of underweight, normal, overweight, and obese (BMI Kg/m2<18.5, 18.5-24.9, 25-29.9, and ≥30 respectively).

In conflict situations, women are much more disadvantaged compared to men. Women tend to be the most vulnerable victims of various forms of violence.  But focusing only on women as victims of conflicts ignores the fact that women play significant roles during and after the conflicts, and reinforces existing traditional gender values and practices that women are only “passive” and “subservient” in peace and politics. This has negative consequences in overlooking women’s potential as key actors in peace-building processes and activities.

Gesture detection for deaf and dumb people

Gesture detection using video and image processing is used for enabling the communication between the deaf, dumb & normal people. All the available systems are not portable and not affordable to poor people. This paper introduces new android application which will detect the Indian sign language via mobile camera and converts into corresponding text or voice output. This application reduces the major communication gap between the impaired and normal people. This application uses certain image processing techniques to compare the input with the already stored signs.

Rural urban linkages: A study around Nalhati municipality

The gradual transformation from rural areas to urban areas has been associated with complex dynamic forces. This has resulted in the growth and development of urban centres at the expanse of rural areas. It is now widely recognised that there exists an economic, social and environmental interdependence between urban and rural areas. Urban centers became regional market towns and the link between town and country is usually provided by transport. That’s why the rural urban linkages have become increasingly important in development literature in the field of urban environmental study.
