Salt stress-induced proline accumulation, changes in ionic adjustment (na+/k+) and catalase in the tomato (solanum lycopersicum) leaf

Soil salinity is a major limitation to plant in many areas of the world. Present study has explored the effect of salinity on Proline content, mineral composition and antioxidant enzyme of tomato. Tomato plants were exposed to 0, 60, 90,120,150 mM NaCl.The Proline accumulation was studied by reading the absorption of chromophore at 520nm using spectrophotometer. The content of proline increase in tomato as the level of NaCl increase. Using atomic absorption spectrophotometer ion uptake for Na+, K+, Ca+ and Mg2+ were determined.

A review on screening methods for extracelular enzymes

Soil contains a number of microorganisms with nutritional diversity. These bacteria produce many extra cellular and intracellular enzymes which are used for various purposes. Some of these extracellular enzymes are important for agro based industries that in turn opens scope for searching cost effective and easy to operate screening of such important extracellular enzymes. Present paper describes a review on screening methods for extracellular enzymes. It includes screening for extracellular amylase, lipase and proteases.

Attitudes of households toward solid waste management services and practices in Zanzibar

Solid waste is a visible concern in any environment especially for a tourist destination like Zanzibar. Zanzibar as the most rapidly growing tourist destination cannot afford to allow unsightly piles of solid waste and wind-blown litter on its streets. This will endanger its natural beauty, environmental and aesthetic value. This study examines the attitude of households towards solid waste management services and practices that can serve as an index for solid waste control.

Evaluation of landscape urbanity in Americana, são paulo, Brazil

The constant transformation of space comes as a result of established socio-environmental, economic and cultural relations. In order to understand the relationships between the patterns and processes in the landscape, considering or not the hierarchical organization, the development of methods for the quantification of their structure has been used. This study focuses on analyzing temporal dynamics of landscape and land cover in Americana (SP Brazil in 1994, 2008 and 2016) aiming to diagnose the landscape urbanity through the application of The Urbanity Index (UI).

Biochemical and cytotoxic effect metribuzin herbicide on albino rats in short term of toxicity

Metribuzin considered as pre and post emergent herbicide used to remove a wide range of grass weeds. We investigate the sub-chronic cytotoxic effect of metribuzin in male albino rats that intubated orally with 0,110,220, and 440 mg/kg for three months twice per week. We founded that metribuzin containing herbicide Sencor 70% caused decrease in weight gain ratio of albino rats that was proportional with increase in dose level.

Study on nitrite determination by spectrophotometric method and its application in analysis of mekomg river water in laos

Spectrophotometric method using Griess – Ilosvay reagent was established for determination of nitrite in water samples. The standard equation was determined. It is A = (0,71 ± 0,03).CN + (0,02 ± 0,01) with R2 = 0.99842. By this equation the values of LOD, LOQ of this method were calculated, where: LOD = 0.018 mg/L; LOQ = 0.062 mg/L. This method was used to determining nitrite concentration in Mekong river at Vientiane, Laos.

Pulmonary changes and bronchial hyperresponsiveness in rats subjected to acute acrolein exposure

Acrolein is a toxic substance resulting from cigarette smoke and partial combustion of animal fats and vegetable oils, and mainly used in industry for the production of acrylic acid and plastics. The main forms of human exposure to this substance is through cigarette smoke and car exhaust. Its high toxicity is responsible for many adverse health effects, especially changes in the respiratory system. This study aimed to analyze the changes in lung function and hyperresponsiveness of the smooth muscle of the airways of rats, resulting from acute exposure to acrolein.
