The longest gallbladder with mucocele from the arabian peninsula - a case report

We report an interesting case of the longest gallbladder ever removed through laparoscopy for a gall stone disease from Arabian Peninsula. Gallbladder measured 20 cms in length with a single large stone about 3.5cm in size. This has been the longest gallbladder ever reported from the Arabian Peninsula to our knowledge in the medical literature. However, the longest gallbladder of 30 cm size, for a case of mucocele gallbladder removed by Rahul Yadav et al. from Rajasthan in India1.

Intraoperative difficulties in laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Introduction: Laparoscopic surgery has certain technical limitations like loss of three-dimensional perception, a relatively limited and fixed view of operative field, indirect contact with intraabdominal structures, and limited tactile feedback during dissection and manipulation of tissues. This makes operation difficult sometimes and leads to conversion to open cholecystectomy. AIM: The aim of the study was to study the intraoperative difficulties in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.

Assessment of vitamin d status in pregnant women, a prospective observational study from kashmir valley

Back ground: Vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy has important health implications for the mother and infant, including fetal hypovitaminosis D, neonatal rickets and tetany, infantile rickets. Recent studies, in many countries, have shown that low maternal vitamin D status is common during pregnancy, the magnitude of which warrants public health intervention. Aims: To prospectively assess the vitamin D nutritive status in pregnant women in Kashmir Valley and to study the prevalence of suboptimal vitamin D status in apparently healthy pregnant Kashmiri women.

Background: Self-medication is popularly practiced worldwide, especially on fever and some chronic conditions. However, deaths and adverse effects have been reported due to poor practices. In malaria endemic areas, caregivers with children under five years practice self-medication however, the practice is poorly understood. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out on 201 caregivers with children under five years and 10 health care workers at Kabondo-Kasipul Sub-County Hospital in Homa-bay County, Kenya.

Unveiling knowledge and practices of Brazilian community health agents on uterine cancer

Objective: to analyze the knowledge and practices of Brazilian community health agents on the prevention of uterine cancer. Method: convergent assistance research, with a qualitative approach. Thirteen community health workers participated in the interview stage. The analysis of the information was based on the Bardin content analysis. Results: there was recognition of the importance of cytopathological examination for the prevention of cancer and doubt about the recommended interval for the examination.

Tourism and local development: Analysis of environmental sustainability in porto seguro, bahia, Brazil

The objective of this article is to analyze the environmental sustainability of the tourism in Bahia, Brazil, taking as reference the locality of Porto Seguro. The environmental aspect is inserted once the tourism developed in this destination is strongly associated with the natural landscape. For that, field survey was used and carried out from May 4 to 20, 2016, when 41 managers of the companies that operate in the hosting sector were interviewed.
