Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a stigmatizing and degenerative disease that impacts on the organic and emotional functioning of those affected. Objectives: To evaluate the experiences and expectations of patients and caregivers in MS coping, to identify the impact profile in caregivers and patients with MS. Method: Exploratory research with a qualitative approach. The sample was comprehensive, including all subjects with MS and their main caregivers registered in the IX Regional Health Management of Paraíba / Brazil.

Prevalence of hepatitis b in blood donors at the coordinating blood center of the state of piauí, Brazil

Infection Hepatitis B virus is one of the world's biggest public health problems due to its magnitude and because it is related to chronic manifestations such as cirrhosis and primary liver cancer. The objective of this study was to analyze the epidemiological profile of donors infected with Hepatitis B virus and characterize them according to the following variables: sex, origin, age, skincolor, level of education, marital status and year of donation, as also verify if sex acts as a risk factor for contamination.

Sodium chloride reduction in bread: chemical and sensory characterization among teenagers

The research’s purpose was to verify the sensory acceptability of bread made with different levels of sodium chloride (NaCl), potassium chloride (KCl) and monosodium glutamate (MSG) among teenagers and evaluate the product’s chemical composition. Comparison of essential fatty acids in preterm mother's milk and the baby's mother term in different stages of lactation

Some components of mother's milk is considered of utmost importance, for example, polyunsaturated fatty acids, long chain (AGPICL), these being: docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22: 6n -3), arachidonic acid (ARA, 20: 4N- 6) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C20: 5n -3).This study aims to compare the amount of DHA, ARA and EPA in milk from mothers of preterm and at term births due to its great importance in the life of this newborn Forty-seven lactating women aged 14-43 participated in this study. Among these 23 were part of the preterm group (PG) and 24 were part of the at term group (GT).

Abstract: Thoracic injuries account for 25% of all trauma deaths annually. Immediate deaths involve disruption of the heart or great vessel injury. Early deaths (those occurring within 30mins to 3 hours) are due to cardiac tamponade, tension pneumothorax, aspiration, or airway obstruction. Pulmonary sepsis and missed injuries account of the late deaths.

Total absence of the small-bowel in a newborn with duodenal obstruction a case report and complete review of short bowel syndrome

Total absence of small bowel is very rare situation. It usually accompanied with vascular accident or abdominal wall defect. The following case is presented to discuss the optimal care and best operative technique could be had in this situation. Case: Two-day-old neonate, G/A of 36th weeks, whom was referred to our center because of bilious vomiting and double bubble sign in the X-rays. Patient with diagnosis of duodenal obstruction was resuscitated and was transferred to operating room for exploration. We found adhesion and a sac, which was containing two blind pouches.

The relationship between multiple intelligences and reading comprehension: The case of iranian medical students and review of literature

Aim: The present study was an attempt to investigate the relationship between multiple intelligences and reading comprehension ability of medical students. With advancements in psychology and cognitive sciences, the role of individual differences has been highlighted in the realm of L2 teaching. One of the outcomes of regarding individuals as different beings is the concept of Intelligence which has also gained an increasing importance in L2 learning, especially in reading comprehension skill.
