Indicator plants of soil attributes in cropping systems of ilex paraguariensis a. st.-hil. and mimosa scabrella in Southern Brazil

The present work tried to identify plants indicating soil attributes in cropping systems of Ilex paraguariensis and Mimosa escabrella in the town of Augusto Pestana, Northwest of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The cropping systems were: I. paraguariensis associated with M. escabrella; I.paraguariensis in slope area; I.paraguariensis in low area and M. scabella in single cultivation. Five plants samples (1 m²) and soil samples were collected in the cultivation line, each one composed of five sub-samples.

Development of smoked mortadella preparedwith surimi of flying fish added inulin andwithfat reduction

The objective of this research was develop and characterize the physico-chemical composition of a smoked mortadella prepared with surimi from flying fish added inulin and with reduction of fat. The experiment was planned in a factorial scheme 2² with 3 central points, in observe the influence of the independent variables (fat concentration vegetable and insulin concentration) in the variables responses that were physical and chemical analysis. Seven treatments were formulated following the experimental planning and control formulation using 15% of vegetable fat and 0% inulin.

Effects of armed conflict on Lower Casamance National Park environment in the southwestern Senegal

In a national and international context where protected areas play an increasingly important role both in the environment preservation and in the local populations economy, this article aims to determine the impacts of the armed conflict between the Senegalese government and the MFDC on the environmental dynamics of the Lower Casamance National Park. The methodological approach is based on remote sensing for understanding the evolution of vegetation. It is based on the analysis of multi-date satellite images using PCI Geomatica software.

Family Composition and Funcional Capacity of Coresident Elderly People

Objective: This study searched for identifying the composition of the family setting and the functional capacity of the coresident elderly. Methods: This is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach. The research was performed in a Family Health Unit in the city of Vitória da Conquista - Bahia, and all the coresident elderly were included and they presented cognitive conditions. Sociodemographic data were collected, as well as the evaluation of the functional capacity through the Katz Scale and the Brazil Old Age Schedule questionnaire.

Relationship between performance and hospital size in the state of São Paulo (Brazil)

The objective of the study was to identify relationships between performance and hospital size in general hospitals that attend the Unified Health System (UHS) in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. The study was quantitative and the sample was composed of 420 general hospitals that provided service to the Unified Health System from 2008 to 2013. Hospital indicators selected to evaluate performance included, production, productivity and quality.

Perceptions of elderly after the fall

The objective of this study was to analyze the perception of institutionalized elderly women regarding the fall. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, developed in a Long Stay Institution of female care in the city of Fortaleza - Ceará. Data collection took place from September to October 2017 through a semi-structured interview where the final sample was composed of eleven elderly women. It was noticed that the biggest fall victim is the elderly who spend most of their time in their dorms and who do not practice physical exercises or recreational activities.

Macro-economic determinants of industrial output in Nigeria: Exchange rate and employment dimension

This study looks at the macro-economic determinants of industrial output in relation to exchange rate and employment in Nigeria. It employs the Autoregressive Distribution Lag (ARDL) econometric approach to co-integration using time series data for the period of 30 years (1986 -2016) to examine the long-run relationship between industrial performance and some macroeconomic variables in Nigeria to gain insights into the industrial paradox of high inflation and low employment rate alongsiderising interest rate, incessant power outage and political treat in the economy.

The forestry concession as an instrument of innovation in the use of the public forestry for local sustainable development

The Forest Concession allows the use of the public forest, through a bidding process, allowing the sustainable exploitation of products and services in the area of forest management. The National Forestry Development Fund, created by Law 11284/2006, has the mission of promoting innovation and the development of sustainable forestry activities. In this sense, this article presents the relationship between forest concession as a process of innovation of the use of public forests in order to promote local sustainable development.

Federalism and the Brazilian Unified Health System: an integrative literature review

The term federalism and its derivatives have attracted the interest of teachers and students who are militant supporters of the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) – the Brazilian Unified Health System, in their teaching, research and extension activities. In organic debates, it has been questioned whether, and to what extent, the Brazilian federalist culture has participated in creating obstacles to the guarantee of health as a right for all citizens.
