Quality control and hypoglycemic effect evaluation of drugs with bauhinia forficata link. (fabaceae)

The objective of the present study was to analyze the quality of commercially available samples of the plant B. forficata and compare their hypoglycemic effects with those of in naturasamples. To that end, three samples of B. forficata were acquired from commercial sourcesand subjected to quality control tests to examine their adequacy for human consumption. The samples were found to contain potentially pathological microorganisms (Klebsiella sp. and Aspergillus sp.), disqualifying them from use due to their potential negative effects on public health.

The Morality Present in the Hygienization processes: The Nurse as a Disciplinarian Element of the Bodies

The present philosophical essay aims to reflect on the intention to moralize the bodies through the processes of hygiene and on the nurse's role as a disciplining element. An analysis is carried out within the context of the hygienist ideal, establishing a dialogue with contemporary authors such as Foucault and Caponi. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, signs of the hygienist movement were observed in innumerable governmental actions in Brazil, whose aim was to replace the old moral with a new moral.

Evaluating the level of physical activity and common mental disorders in elderly people who use chronic medicines

Aging causes physiological changes that can lead to the appearance of chronic degenerative diseases and consequently the chronic use of medications. This article aims to evaluate the level of physical activity and mental health of elderly people who use chronic medications. This is an epidemiological, quantitative and cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 128 elderly people of both genders. To obtain the data, we chose the BECK anxiety and depression questionnaire, the ABUEL questionnaire for medication use and the IPAQ short version.

A case of genetic etiology of acute pancreatitis in a lebanese pediatric patient

Chronic pancreatitis is an inflammatory condition that needs investigation in order to find and potentially treat the underlying cause since recurrent and chronic pancreatitis can lead to irreversible pancreatic damage or even pancreatic cancer. Hereditary pancreatitis are chronic pancreatitis or recurrent acute pancreatitis that are related to gene mutations. It is an autosomal disease, with a variable expression and a penetrance that is around 80%.

Prevalence of skin disease in Nineveh city, an Iterventional study

In Iraq the available measures of disease frequency related to skin disorders are from hospital-based clinic studies. It reflects the patterns of clinic attendance, and the actual prevalence of skin diseases in the community is unknown. The main objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of skin diseases in selected areas of Ninevah governorate. A household survey based on health interviews and clinical examination was conducted over a period of seven months.

Rectal gastric heterotopia: A rare cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding

Heterotopia is defined as the presence of normal tissue type at non-physiological sites. Gastric heterotopia (GHT) is the most reported epithelial heterotopia. It can occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract. Most cases are described in the esophagus, duodenum and Meckel’s diverticulum. It’s rarely observed in the rectum and anus.

Equity in access to cataract surgeries in a Brazilian region: health caravan program

This article aims to assessequity in the population's access to cataract extraction procedures in the Health Caravan Program and its coverage in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. It is a cross-sectional study, with analysis of secondary data from the Informatics Department of the Ministry of Health and productivity reports of the Health Caravan Program with standardization of the coefficient of cataract surgeries in Brazil. The results showed the execution of 13,361 cataract surgeries in 2015 and 23,340 in 2016.

Interference of bonding agent on compound resins resistance to micro shearing

Objective: To assess bond strength of different conventional and universal adhesive systems to dentine substrate. Methods: 40 bovine teeth had their roots severed and vestibular surface planed until dentine exposure, and were randomly divided into five groups (n=16), according to the adhesive system used: Group SB2- Adper Single Bond 2; Group A- Ambar; Group APS- Ambar APS; Group SBU- Single Bond Universal; Group AU- Ambar Universal. Two transparent cylindrical matrices were fixated over the hybridized dentine and the compound resin Z250 XTwas applied.

Understanding the meanings of heart disease for women experiencing climacteric

Objective: To know the meanings of heart disease for women experiencing climacteric. Methods: Qualitative study with 25 cardiovascular women, conducted from June to August 2013. The interactionist perspective (symbolic interactionism) was used as a theoretical-methodological reference and, as a modality, the analysis by focus group technique. Results: four categories were identified namely "Incapacity for activities of daily living"; "Feelings of frustration"; "Family" and "Spirituality." Women emphasized the transformations and repercussions in their daily lives.

Placenta Previa Frequency and its Outcome in Baghdad teaching Hospital

Background: Placenta praevia is the implantation of the placenta partially or wholly in the lower segment of the uterus. It is graded in two ways, as either grade 1- 4 or minor/major. It is a major cause of obstetrical hemorrhage which leads to increase in maternal morbidity and perinatal mortality, its incidence is still rising worldwide. Objectives: To determine the frequency and outcome of placenta previa at Baghdad teaching hospital.
