Program of promotion in oral health with children attended in the dental complex of unicatolica

Active methodologies in pediatric dentistry are a very important tool, since cooperation during dental treatment will differ between patients. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a motivational program of oral health promotion in children attending the São João Calábria Childres's Clinic of UNICATÓLICA, evaluating life quality, anxiety, depression and oral conditions.

Analysis of the patient safety culture in a public hospital in Brazil

This study to intend analyze the patient safety culture from the working professional’s perception in a public hospital in the state. This is a cross-sectional study performed with 204 employees. The instrument (Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture) was applied for the data collection. Throughout this study the perception of the patient's safety degree as adequate and inadequate was considered as the main outcome. To analyze the variables, we performed a prevalence calculation with Confidence Intervals of 95% (95% CI).

Depressive disorder in patients with multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a disease of neurodegenerative features. It is characterized as a chronic disorder that can occur with comorbid psychiatric diseases, mainly depression. We present in this manuscript aims to evaluate the frequency of depressive disorder in a population of patients with multiple sclerosis in Brazil and to characterize sociodemographic and clinical aspects. It is an exploratory, cross-sectional and quantitative study. The study included 73 patients with multiple sclerosis who are assisted by a public outpatient neurology service at a university hospital in Brazil.

Risk factors of smoking among primary school students

Background: Tobacco use has become a rapidly growing problem worldwide as well as in many developing countries. Of serious concern, is the increasing trend in smoking prevalence amongst school aged children and the likelihood that many of them who begin to smoke at an early age, will continue to do so throughout adulthood. Aim: To examine the impact of different risk factors in the initiation and continuation of smoking among primary school students in Mosul city.

Knowledge of professionals from a neonatal intensive therapy unit about the pain in newborn

Objective: to describe the knowledge of health professionals related to the newborns care from a Brazilian Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Method: A quantitative study carried out with a total number of health professionals (n=36) working in a NICU. A questionnaire was applied with sociodemographic and knowledge questions about the management of neonatal pain. A descriptive analysis was performed, and the chi-square test was applied.

The use of ampicillin and ampiclox solutions for parenteral injection in the pediatric ward

In our hospital, injectable ampicillin and ampiclox are available in one form only; vials containing 500 mg of the drug. When used for intravenous or intramuscular injection, these drugs are dissolved in 4-5' ml of distilled water or isotonic normal saline. If the recommended dose is 125-250 mg at a time, part of the dissolved drug is injected. The remaining part is not discarded, it is rather reused 6-8 hourly thereafter.

Sociodemographic profile of children served in a neonatal screening

Objective: To identify the socio-demographic profile of children attended at three Family Health Units (Unidade Saúde da Família - USF) in the city of Castanhal, state of Pará, Brazil. Method: A multi - case study was used to conduct the research, with a quantitative, descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective approach. Data collection was performed through the records found in the Neonatal screening room of the three health units, and their analysis was performed after registration, reading and organization in a database.

Advanced spiritual care course for Vietnam nursing master’s program

This article introduces a course of advanced spiritual care for the Vietnam nursing master’s program. The course description, goals, teaching methods, schedules, content, and evaluation process are addressed. The ultimate aim is that the Vietnam nursing master’s students in this advanced spiritual nursing care course explore their own spiritual status through reflection upon the development process and the analysis of concepts of spiritual well-being, crisis, distress, and suffering.

Epidemiological panorama of leptospirosis in the state of Pará/Brazil, in the period from 2012 to 2017

This study aimed to describe the epidemiological panorama of Leptospirosis in the state of Pará from 2012 to 2017 highlighting the variables: age, race, confirmation criterion, zone of residence, municipalities, schooling, sex and evolution. This is a retrospective, descriptive, quantitative approach, carried out by means of the situational survey of Leptospirosis in the State of Pará through the database of the Information system of grievance notification with subsequent selection and extraction of the variables of interest.

Cost – effectiveness of dots programme in tuberculosis treatment

The failure of old T.B. programme to achieve control, leads WHO to introduce DOTs as a new strategy for T.B. control. Health system research (HSR) aimed at the evaluation of effectiveness of the two strategies, is done by following two cohorts of patients; 112 patients on DOTs and 124 patients on old treatment regimen. Sputum smear conversion rate, cure rate and success rate were studied in a period of six months. The results showed that the age groups (15-44) years were mostly affected in both cohorts.
