The mesoregion of southeastern of Pará State, in Brazil, made up of 39 municipalities, is of great relevance under the prism of several aspects, such as economic, social and territorial. For example, according to Brandão, Castro and Neto (2017), the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of this mesoregion, which is part of a Brazilian state, is similar to the GDP of the states of Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba.

The concept proposed here describes about the design, construction and validation of a mobile sensory platform for crop monitoring, disaster management. In the field of agriculture, the focus is on the applications of fertilizers and pesticides which is the prime importance for crop yields. The use of drones or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) makes it easy because of the speed and effectiveness in spraying operations.

This article aims to verify how the "Water Law" can be applied in the process of production of cassava derivatives, in order to ensure the availability of water resources within the quality standards appropriate to the respective uses. The research was divided in 4 phases: bibliographic survey; consolidation of a manufacturing model; identification of effluents and application of the "Water Law". As a result, it can be observed that the production of cassava derivatives directly affects the available water resources through the emission of their effluents (I and II).

The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of a dermatoglyphic mark characteristic of speed motor capacity in children and adolescents. A total of 1,238 female children and adolescents aged between 8 and 17 years old were surveyed. The sample was compared according to the classification parameters presented in the 20-meter-race test. The protocol for the analysis of the fingerprints was the Dermatoglyphic proposed by Cummins and Midlo, via Dermatoglyphic Fingerprint Reader®.

This paper deals with the determination of cross-sectional pieces of wood using acoustic tomography by means of the physical principle of emission and acoustic waves path. In order to evaluate this method three wooden samples were tested with the Acoustic Tomography Arbor Sonic 3D equipment. The objective was to verify the influence of the arrangement of the transducers in diametric portion of the logs and along its longitudinal direction, through the quality of information provided on its phytosanitary status.

Buildings are one of the largest energy consumers in developed countries as well as in Brazil, and no other segment has such a potential for improving energy efficiency. Several policies have been applied for this purpose around the world and energy benchmarking is one of the most used worldwide. Thus, this paper brings a new benchmarking approach that involves not only energy consumption, but it also evaluates managerial issues in energy.

Urban re-shaping has been the most common practice to reduce the number of socially vulnerable precarious settlements in the Belém Metropolitan Region, eastern portion of the Brazilian Amazon, in the last decades, but its results and effectiveness are still quite debatable.

This article aims to contextualize the housing policies of the last years in Brazil and South Africa with the changes observed from the globalization of the economy and the influence of these global processes on the housing policies of both countries. In this sense, the text begins with an understanding of the transformations of the globalized world and how neoliberal policies have driven urban structures mainly in the global South.

On 1990´s, the Toyota Production System (TPS) started a new era for world industry, when releases the concept of Lean Thinking, transposed for construction by Lauri Koskela (1992) with eleven principles. In a scenario of floating demand, this concept is related to productivity, combining philosophy, system and tools. The Lean Thinking overcome Ford´s mass production system providing few amounts of pieces, requiring less space, resources and inventory of raw material on productive process.

This study sought to determine the factors affecting the academic performance of students in the software engineering course at Salalah College of Technology. In line with this, a qualitative-descriptive design was employed. Data gathering was conducted through a self-reporting questionnaire. The average weighted mean was used to determine the level of impact of the different factors affecting the respondents’ academic performance. Among the five domains, the teacher-related factors have the most impact on the respondent’s academic performance.
