Adult t-cell leukemia/ lymphoma: from epidemiology to treatment
Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma is a lymphoproliferative disorder of mature T cells caused by humain T-cell lymphotropic virus1, the clinical features of the disease can vary greatly. Patients with adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma have a poor prognosis because of cell resistance to conventional intensive chemotherapy and severe immunosuppression. The combination of Zidovudine and Interferon- is highly effective in the leukemic subtypes and should be considered as standard first-line therapy in that setting.
