This study aimed to capture of Aedes aegypti to verify the circulation of DENV serotypes in this city. Entomological surveys were carried in urban area in nine collection points, covering of the city and using Adultrap® traps. After capture all the mosquitoes were identification, and the females were used to detect the DENV with later serotyping by RT-Nested-PCR.

Protective effect of Lonchocarpus araripensis lectin in rat polymicrobial sepsis

Objective and design: To evaluate the effect of the seed lectin from Lonchocarpus araripensis (LAL) in inflammation, clotting and vascular dysfunction in septic rats. Methods: Sepsis was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) in male Wistar rats and evaluated 24 h later: 1. Peritoneal fluid - leukocyte migration, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and content of malondialdehyde (MDA), NO2-, interleukins (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10); 2. Blood - coagulation tests (aPTT and PT) and platelet aggregation (ADP); 3. Aorta - vascular reactivity to phenylephrine (Phe) and acetylcholine (ACh).

Use of ground penetrating radar with ground-coupled antenna for determining asphalt layer density

This paper aims to analyze Ground Penetrating RADAR (GPR) as a tool for determining the density of the asphalt layer, supported by integrated testing of GPR and geotechnical data. Conventional methods for assessing the compaction control of this layer are destructive, expensive, and time consuming. The GPR technique is a remote method that is faster than existing conventional methods and has proven to be an effective tool for obtaining information during the study of highways.
