The problems, strategy and women empowerment in India

The status of women in India has been subject to many great changes over the past few millennia. The history of women in India has been eventful. Women play a vital role in society. Women have contributed in all areas and there are so many examples in all fields. There is a need of time to frame the women empowerment programme at all levels. The great contribution expect from advocacy groups, policymakers, social researchers, health workers, social thinkers and sociologist for the women empowerment.

Environmental factor influence on foliar and stem pests of grain amaranth in low midlands agro-ecological zones of Kenya: Correct timing for effective pest management

The pigweed beetle Hypolixus haerens Boheman has been cited as a major insect pest of grain amaranth worldwide. A study to evaluate injury level of both foliar and stem damage pests in Kenya revealed that the stem beetle H. haerens caused higher stem damage in the hotter zone (26-30 ºC) than the cooler zone (22-26 ºC) in the low midlands zones of Kenya.

Change and growth rate analysis in area, yield and production of wheat in Ethiopia

The study measured the change and growth rate in area, production, and yield of wheat in Ethiopia based on secondary data during 1991/92-2012/13. Pared t-test was used to identify the significant change in area, production and yield of wheat between the periods 1991/92-2001/02 and 2002/03-2012/13. And semi-log model was applied to measure the compound annual growth rate of wheat for period I (1991/92 to 2001/02), period II (2002/03 to 2012/13) and the whole period (1991/92 to 2012/13).

Formulation and evaluation of a moisturizing day cream containing olive leaves extract

The purpose of the current work is to investigate the incorporation of olive leaves extract standardized for oleuropein which have antioxidant, anti inflammatory, skin protectant and anti-aging properties into stable topical moisturizing day cream formulations. The physiochemical and rheological properties, and accelerated stability tests of three cream formulas containing different concentrations (0.1%, 0.4% and 1.0% w/w) of olive leaf extracts were assessed and compared with commercial cream product containing no olive leaf extract.

Co-variants influencing morbidity pattern among aging women

Health and Human rights has explicit intrinsic connections and has emerged as powerful concepts. Health is a major instrument of social and economic development and it can play a very important role in the creation of a new world. The Extension of human life in the 21st century has been achieved due to a combination of improved medical, social and evolutionary factors, resulting in a growing number of ageing population in most countries of the world, including India. The graying world is also witnessing several other phenomena, one of which is that of ‘graying feminization of aging’.

Enhanced salt-mediated oxidative stress tolerance in transgenic tobacco overexpressing acerola gdp-l-galactose phosphorylase and phosphomannomutase genes

Ascorbate (AsA) plays an important role in stress responses in plants as one of the highly abundant metabolites that scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS). Under salt stress conditions, transgenic tobacco plants overexpressing acerola (Malpighia glabra) GDP-L-galactose phosphorylase (GGP) and phosphomannomutase (PMM) genes accumulated higher amount of AsA, exhibited reduced levels of lipid peroxidation, and maintained higher levels of chlorophyll compared with control plants.

Altered specific activites of peroxidase and IAA oxidase due to infection of Drechslera graminea in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

This study was planned to determine the alterations in specific activities of two oxidative enzymes Peroxidase (E.C.1.11.1.7) and IAA Oxidase (E.C.1.13.16) in barley due to Drechslera graminea, causal agent of Leaf Stripe disease with the objective to investigate the role of these oxidative enzymes in host pathogen interactions. Healthy, naturally infected and artificially inoculated seeds and their seedlings at different time intervals after sowing of barley were used. Estimations of enzyme activities were done by using standard protocols.

Fishing ground of Eleutheronema tetradactylum (Indian Salmon) in pulicat coast

The peak fishing season for the E. tetradactylum of the Pulicat Coasts from May to September. The maximum catch were recorded at station 2 and minimum catch were recorded at the station 6.The highest concentration of the fish is around the continental shelf .the fish are distributely continuously in waters of pulicat for their purpose of feeding, Nursery as well as breeding grounds. Pulicat Coast it acts as the best fishing ground of E. tetradactylum.

Rural agriculture, vulnerability context and coping strategies of households in the wa east district

There is a growing appreciation of the relationship between livelihood, food security, vulnerability, copying strategies and poverty. This study paper seeks to share light on the linkages between vulnerability and agricultural practices and outcomes as well as the coping strategies based on the perception of households using Wa East as a case study. It was found that the distribution of social services creates preconditions for vulnerability and that the use of traditional farming practices is still predominant.
