Mechanical properties and macrostructure of dissimilar friction stir welding of aluminum alloys

Welding of dissimilar aluminum alloys (AA) is not reliable by using fusion welding techniques. Many fusion defects such as porosity and hot crack have been observed by these techniques due to the melting of these alloys. It can eliminate the fusion defects by using a different process technique to join these alloys without melting. One of this processes is friction stir welding. This process is a solid state joining technique which joins metals under its melting temperatures. This process uses a tool which consists a shoulder to produce heat by friction and a pin to stir the welded metals.

In vitro antibacterial activity against pathogenic bacteria: a review

Currently there is a growing interest in researching and developing new antibacterial agents from various sources to combat bacterial resistance. Therefore, a greater attention must be paid to antibacterial activity screening and evaluating methods. Several bioassays such as disk-diffusion, well diffusion and broth or agar dilution are well known and commonly used, but other methods are not widely used because they need some special equipment.

Low immunohistochemical expression of e-cadherin is associated with better survival in high-grade urothelial cancer

Introduction: Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is the most common type of bladder cancer (BC). Approximately 75% of all BCs are restricted to the mucosa. Ten to 30% of superficial tumors will progress to invasive disease with worse prognosis. The epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) is associated with the acquisition of tumor invasiveness and aggressive phenotypes. E-cadherin (E-CA) and vimentin are two proteins related to the EMT phenomenon.

Rp hplc method for the estimation of amikacin, aminoglycoside anti biotic

The proposed RP-HPLC method is developed and subsequently validated which is rapid, sensitive and reproducible for the analysis of amikacin in pharmaceutical dosage forms with short analysis time. A mobile phase is a mixture of acetonitrile, methyl alcohol, and o- phosphoric acid, OPA, (0.1%) in 50:35:15 (v/v).A flow rate of 1.0 mL/min mobile phase was found to be suitable in the studied range of 0.5—1.5 mL/min. The spectra of Amikacin showed a balanced wavelength at 272 nm.

Phase diagram of the binary mixtures of 7ocb+8cb

In this paper, a study of phase diagram of a binary mixture of two compounds of liquid crystal has been produced by high resolution temperature scanning technique. Heptyloxy cyanobiphenyl (7OCB) and octyl cyanobiphenyl (8CB) has been chosen to produce binary mixtures. The former compound exhibits only nematic phase so that it is treated as nematogenic and the latter is smectogenic which exhibits both nematic and smectic phases. Binary mixtures of these compounds in a certain concentration range (0.1 < x7OCB < 0.90 except 0.8) has been reported here.

Insecticide treated nets coverage and utilization among household members in gode district, gode zone, somali region, eastern Ethiopia

Background: Malaria is a major public health problem in Ethiopia. Somali Region is one of malaria endemic areas in the country. It’s known that the use of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) is one of most important malaria preventive methods. However, there are no studies concerning ITNs utilization and factors associated with its utilization in Gode district. The objective of the study is to assess the ITNs coverage, utilization and associated factors at household (HH) level in Gode District, Somali Region, Gode zone, Eastern Ethiopia.

Significance of clinical parameters in diagnosis and management of renal failure

Chronic kidney disease is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality across the developed world. Glomerular filtration rate, serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and albumin are biomarkers used in kidney failure. Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers are widely used in management of kidney failure. The main objective is to evaluate management based on clinical parameters in renal failure patients.

Ethnobotanical study of non-timber forest products in livelihood of tribal community of ayodha hill, purulia

Forest is considered as a storehouse of immense valuable materials and services. Non-Timber Forest products (NTFPs) have an important role in the household economy of forest fringe dwellers living in the dry deciduous forests in Ayodha Hill of Purulia district, West Bengal. In this ethnobotanical study tribal people from different villages are asked for the NTFPs in regular basis for their livelihood.

Study of chemical composition and antimicrobial activity of mud dauber wasps nest soil

This study involves determination of the chemical composition of wasp’s nest soil and simple clay soil. The samples were analyzed at Biotech Lab. S.D. (PG) College Sri Ganganagar, a high standard laboratory with sophisticated equipments. Research showed that it builds nest by excreting saliva to mixture of water and various building materials which include paper and clay soil. The nest soil was found to be higher in concentration of phosphorus, magnesium, chloride, potassium (very low amount), calcium, phenol and iron.

Preliminary studies on the occurrence of the foliar nematode aphelenchoides besseyi christie in rice seeds in burkina faso

Rice is a strategic crop for Burkina Faso but the performance of improved varieties is limited by both abiotic (rainfall and soils) and biotic (insects and diseases) factors. The negative impact of the parasitic nematodes on the productivity of rice varieties was identified by many studies. The objective of the current study was to evaluate the occurrence of the foliar nematode Aphelenchoides besseyi Christie in rice seed samples from the 3 main rice-growing ecologies in Burkina Faso.
