The objectives of this study are to determine the prevalence and frequency of anxiety and depression in patients hospitalized for Covid-19 in the psychiatric department of Befelatanana as well as to analyze the possible existence of correlation between the appearance of anxiety-depressive disorders and the variables studied. Method: We conducted a retrospective study over a period of 24 months from 01 January 2020 to 01 January 2022. The variables studied were sociodemographic variables such as age, gender as well as clinical parameters of the patients such as duration of hospitalization, presumed diagnosis, comorbidities, and saturation at entry, treatments received and outcome of the patients, oxygen therapy and anxiety disorders. Results: We selected 41 patients, for an overall prevalence of 9.86%. The age of the patients varied from 17 to 89 years with a mean age of 51.09 (standard deviation = 14.47) years, a sex ratio of 0.58. The average length of hospitalization was 13.85 days (standard deviation= 8.48), Anxiety was the most represented at 90.24% and depression at 4.88%, hydroxyzine was the most prescribed treatment at 43.90%, 82.93% were discharged cured, age, gender and length of hospitalization were not correlated to anxiety disorders. Conclusion: Anxiety and depression disorders have seen a high incidence during the pandemic, special attention should be paid to these disorders especially in case of Covid-19, as well as an adapted management by anxiolytics and antidepressants.
