Analysis of the m.a.c® healing acceleration methodology in a muscle injury

Overuse injuries are common in elite athletes. The repetitive forces of sports activities lead to tendon, muscle, cartilage, bone, and nerve injuries and poor physical performance. An accurate and early diagnosis is necessary to design an objective and assertive rehabilitation program so that the athlete can return to his or her professional activities as soon as possible. This is the objective of this case report that used in a professional athlete of the Fluminense Futebol Clube, the M.A.C.

Comparison between short- and long-term of estrus synchronization with different doses of pmsg in noemi ewes

Two experiments were performed on 60 ewes and 7 Noemi rams were used. Two and 4 groups were designed in Experiment I and II respectively. Each group has 10 ewes. In experiment I, intra-vaginal sponges, containing 40 mg of FGA, were left in the vagina of groups control and G1 for 5 d.All ewes received GnRH at time of sponge insertion and time of sponge removal; ewes received prostaglandin F2α and only PMSG hormones at the doses of 500 IU in G 1. Experiment II, the protocol followed the same protocol of Experiment I for control and G1.

Incidence and factors associated with constipation in intensive care

Despite being a complication that is commonly identified in severe patients, constipation is not a frequent topic in intensive care journals. In Brazil, little is known about constipation in critically-ill adults. The objective of this study is to assess the incidence and factors associated with constipation in critically-ill patients by means of an integrative review conducted from 2016 to 2020 in the following databases: BVS, LILACS, SciELO and PUBMED.

Acupressure as a potentially effective strategy for reducing the intensity and length of labour pain

Introduction: Labor is a process that occurs in many types and unlike other acute and chronic pain, labor pain is not related to any disease or pathology. Stress and anxiety, prolonged labor, irregular heart rate in the fetus, increased caesarean section and a low Apgar score in the newborn are all complications of pain. Non-pharmacological applications can be performed independently by a midwife and a nurse in consultation with the pregnant woman. Acupressure is a non-invasive technique used to speed up labor, relieve pain, and shorten the time of delivery.

Development study of magistral cosmetic formulations containing 5% caffeine

This article refers to an approach to the development of semi-solid formulations containing 5% caffeine for the cosmetic treatment of cellulite. In a bench analysis proposal, five formulations were developed, three emulsions and two base gels that demonstrated when incorporating caffeine, the gels showed turbidity and to correct this problem it was necessary to add cosolvent.

Characterization of anemia and association with subclinical infection in children from rural areas of the northeast of Brazil

Anemia is the most prevalent nutritional deficiency worldwide.It is considered a public health problem that is related to iron and infectious process. This study aimed at characterizing anemia and relating it to subclinical infection in children under the age of five years old residing in rural areas of Teresina, in Piauí state. A subsample of 103 children from 6 to 59 months, from both sexeswas evaluated. In order to diagnose anemia, a concentration of hemoglobin was used, and children were considered anemic when the values were smaller than 11mg/dL.

Colecistite aguda: up to date

Esta revisão tem como objetivo, apresentar um upto date do cenário atual e perspectivas para colecistite aguda, especificamente, o tratamento.Refere-se à uma revisão integrativa da literatura científica. Foi empregado no recrutamento dos 26 artigos deste trabalho, as Ferramentas de Avaliação Crítica, do inglês, CriticalAppraisal Tool (CAT). As CATs são listas de verificação ordenadas que favorecem a compreensão da qualidade metodológica de um determinado estudo, neste caso, sobre a CA.

A educação ambiental no contexto escolar como um processo educativo e transformador

A preservação do meio ambiente é um fator fundamental paraa melhor qualidade de vida de todos os seres vivos do globo terrestre, e várias legislações versam sobre tal assunto. A contemporaneidade, o progresso e a evolução trouxeram consigo grandes e graves problemas ambientais, causando preocupação por parte da sociedade, o que gerou e fomentou novos conceitos como sustentabilidade, desenvolvimento sustentável e educação ambiental e, esta última como uma visão ampla de educação para a vida.

Atendimento ao luto na infância: percepções e estratégias utilizadas pelo psicólogo

O diálogo sobre a morte entre adultos e crianças pode ser difícil e, algumas vezes, acontecer de forma embaraçosa. Diante disso, esta pesquisa investigou o entendimento dos psicoterapeutas infantis sobre o atendimento com crianças enlutadas através de revisão sistemática de literatura dos artigos publicados nos últimos 05 (cinco)anos, contidos no Portal de Periódicos CAPES, utilizando os descritores “child grief”, “death” e “psychology”. Resultaram da busca um total de 62 (sessenta e dois) artigos e, após a leitura e análise, foram selecionadas 20 (vinte) publicações.

Prevalence of femoroacetabular impingement in soccer players

Objective: This review aims to examine the prevalence of Femoroacetabular Impigement (FAI) in soccer players with regard to age, gender, gene (genetics - predisposing factors), ethnicity and type. Methods: A research of PubMed, PEDro and ScienceDirect (through 2010-2021) was completed for the prevalence of FAI. The inclusion criteria were the publication date, the population (soccer players) and the syndrome. Out of 346 studies, 13 were included. Results: Cam impingement was significantly more common in athletes.
