Evaluation of antimicrobial activity and toxicity of the propolis and chrysin and p-coumaric acid compounds

Introduction: In recent years, research involving natural products has been the target of many investigations in search of new drugs to help treat infections. Objective: In the present study, we used in vitro assays to evaluate the antimicrobial activity by microdilution and to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the green propolis extract and two of its isolated compounds - p-coumaric acid and chrysin.

Chemoresistance of trypanosoma vivax (kinetoplastida: trypanosomatidae) in the sudanese zone of Côte d’Ivoire

African Animal Trypanosomoses constitute a major obstacle to the livestock development in sub-Saharan Africa. In response, trypanocides treatments are regularly administered to livestock. However, the uncontrolled and abusive use of these products has led to the emergence and expansion of trypanosome chemoresistance. The present study carried out in the departments of Korhogo and Ferkessédougou, in the Sudanese zone of Côte d'Ivoire, aims to assess the susceptibility of Trypanosoma vivax to diminazene aceturate and isometamidium chloride, the most commonly used molecules.

Evaluation of the antitumor activity of cold-pressed oil of dipteryxalata vogel almonds with potato disc bioassay

Research on Cerrado species and bioproducts is an important means of disseminating biological resources, aiming at the conservation of the biome and contributing to the dissemination of knowledge about benefits for human health. Therefore, the use of natural products has been the subject of investigations in several to assess the beneficial potential of bioproducts. In this paper, the antitumor effect against strains of Rhyzobuimradiobacter was investigated using the potato disc methodology. The cold-pressed oil of Dipteryxalata(D.

In order to optimize respiratory work, postural changes and progressive physical exercise limitation may appear over time. Objective: To identify whether there is a relationship between pulmonary function and static posture, thoracic spine mobility and physical activity level in CF patients. Cross-sectional study with a consecutive sample of 44 children and adolescents.

Human parvovirus in dengue virus negative patient samples in santarém, west region of pará state

The human parvovirus B19 (B19V) is an infectious viral agent associated with mild clinical conditions, such as the benign self-limiting exanthematous disease, but possibly fatal for fetuses. In this study, we observed positive cases of B19V in samples investigated due to suspicious dengue virus infection. The serum samples (n=17) were obtained in 2018 from patients attended by the public health system in Santarém municipality, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. Samples were submitted to ELISA (IgM) and also nested-PCR, presenting negative results to dengue virus in all tested samples.

Correlation of ldh and presence of lung injuries in patients with covid-19

Given the importance of knowing more about the SARS-Cov-2 infection, a study was carried out using the medical records of 104 individuals during up to 14 days of COVID-19, treated at an outpatient clinic, between January and April 2021, in the Amazon region, northern Brazil. The objective was to correlate the levels of lactic dehydrogenase (LDH), a biomarker of tissue damage, with the presence and extension of lung lesions through lung CT scans.

In vitro propagation of piper hispidum by somatic embryogenesis in leaf explants

Purpose: A protocol for regeneration of P. hispidum through somatic embryogenesis in leaf explants is described. Under aseptic conditions, the leaves were cut into 1.0 cm2 explants. These explants were inoculated into test tubes with 10.0 mL of an Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal culture medium supplemented with 30.0 g L-1 sucrose, 6.0 g L-1 agar and a factorial combination of the growth regulators 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and 6-Benzylaminopurine (BA), both at 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 mg L-1, totalizing 25 treatments.

Validation of the Brazilian version of the professionalism mini-evaluation exercise (p-mex) to assess the professionalism of pediatricians

Purpose: Assessment allows students to identify their strengths and weaknesses and, when necessary, facilitates the intervention of the teacher. The Professionalism Mini-Evaluation Exercise (P-MEX) is an instrument with good psychometric properties used to assess the professionalism of students. Despite having good properties, there is no version validated for use in Brazil. Therefore, the aim of this study was to validate the cross-culturally adapted version of the P-MEX for Brazilian Portuguese and for the evaluation of pediatric residents.
