Inhibitory potentials of selected medicinal plants against biofilm forming bacteria

The current study was an attempt at elucidating the inhibitory potentials of certain plants against biofilm forming bacteria. Plants chosen for analysis were Leucusaspera, Cassia alata, Cadabafruticosa, Carica papaya, Terminaliachebula, Barringtoniaacutangula, Wrightiatinctoria and Eupatorium triplinerve. In this study biofilm forming bacteria were isolated from pipelines and water filter candles fromin and around Chennai. Biofilm forming bacteria was identified by Microtitre plate assay. Further confirmation of bacterial species was obtained by biochemical tests and 16S rRNA analysis.

Estimation of calorie consumption from high value food for school going girls: an agro-ecological and socio-economic analysis

The menace of malnutrition has been considered as the deadliest factor causing great hindrance towards ensuring a decent and secure livelihood.  Basically, the problem of malnutrition has got social, political, technical and motivational dimensions as well.  Education being the basic driving force for any economy and progress per se, the school going children need to be focused and attended comprehensively so that they can grow up themselves as healthy citizens having belligerent mind and body.  But unfortunately almost 80% of the school going children in India are suffering from deleteriou

Studies on miscibility of sodium carboxy methyl cellulose/ poly (ethylene glycol) blends

Miscibility studies have been conducted on solutions of blends of Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (NaCMC) and Poly (ethyleneglycol) (PEG) over an extended range of concentrations in water. The Viscosity , Ultrasonic velocity, density, and refractive index of the blends have been measured for different compositions viz., 0/100, 20/80, 40/60, 50/50, 60/40, 80/20 and 100/0 of NaCMC/PEG blends in water at 300 C.

Unusual variations in the formation and branching pattern of brachial plexus

Anatomical variations in the formation and branching pattern of the brachial plexus are known. However, presence of various anomalies in the same cadaver, differing on the two sides is very rare. The present study aims to record the prevalence of such variations with embryological explanation and clinical implications. The study was carried out on thirty upper limbs from fifteen adult human cadavers. The brachial plexuses were exposed and dissected as per standard guidelines. The formation and branching pattern was observed.

Development of pulse, banana and pineapple pomace based weaning food and its quality evaluation during storage

The present research was carried out with the objective to develop weaning food using different levels of pulse flour, banana flour and pineapple pomace flour with respect to sensory quality and nutritional density and evaluated for its physico-chemical, sensory and microbial characteristics. Weaning foods were packed in laminated aluminium foil, and were stored at ambient temperature. Eight blends, prepared with banana flour 30%, pulse flour and pineapple pomace flour were incorporated in the ratio 70:0, 65:5, 60:10, 55:15, 50:20, 45:25, 40: 30, 35:35.

Habitat preference by the marine amphipod Cymadusa filosa (savigny, 1816) (gammaridae), using different artificial substrata from northern Hurghada, red sea, Egypt

Three different artificial substrata (Luffa egyptica, Leaf palm and artificial fibers at each habitat) were used as artificial substrates and fixed on a stainless-steel frame model. Luffa egyptica recoded the highest individual numbers, while the artificial fibers did not record any individuals, with no evidence of any amphipod individuals attached. The most common algal habitats were Sargassum dentifolium and Cystosaira crinite. Moreover, the highest number of the individuals of C.

Effects of cypermethrin and diazinon on haematology of Labeo rohita (H.)

The study was conducted to investigate the effect of cypermethrin and diazinon on haematology of Labeo rohita (H.) in glass aquaria. Twelve batches of fish were exposed to two concentrations of cypermethrin (0.15 and 0.30 l/L) and diazinon (0.002 and 0.004 ml/L) for 96 hours and three batches of fish were treated as control. The blood parameters viz., total WBC and RBC count, Hb, PCV, MCV, MCH and MCHC values were analyzed using standard methods. A decrease in WBC and RBC count, Hb and PCV values were found in both concentrations of cypermethrin exposure (P<0.05).

Proximate determinants of seed demand – a panacea for formulation of agricultural input policy for Nigeria

The agricultural input market in Nigeria is inefficient, which constitutes a major constraint to achieving national food security. Policies for developing agri-input market must adopt a demand-driven process; thus, this paper aimed at identifying the factors that determine the demand for improved agricultural seed as a basis for the formulation of agri-input policy for Nigeria. Data were obtained from National Bureau of Statistics, and farmer survey covering 300 farmers selected by stratified random sampling from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Admission Criterai at Palestinian universities “Socail sciences departments”

The main purpose of this study was to ultimately attract more university students through the adaptation of admission policies that enable students to accept the demands for the benefit of the Palestinian society. In order to achieve the goals of the study, the researcher utilized three tools: literature review, an interview, and questionnaire distributed at Palestinian universities. The results of the study revealed that the admission criteria in the Palestinian universities, especially for the Social Sciences (SS) Programs, need a holistic review and development.

Purpose: This objective for document remains toward taking some information concentrate then intricate on for that and also main information selection techniques this professional canister manipulates currently. This paperresolve tooresidence concentrate on revealing the benefits and restrictions of the techniques of information selection and their importance in applying Info Systems (Bailey & Francis, 2008). That describes this and also the technique, then techniques secondhand for analysis, their significance and the potency of many style designs.
