Fixation of transverse patella fractures using cannulated cancellous screws with anterior tension band wiring

Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of anterior tension band wiring technique using two cannulatedcancellous screws in patients with transverse (AO34-C1) or transverse with mildly comminuted (AO34-C2) patellar fractures. Materials and Methods: This is a prospective study of 25 patients with transverse fracture or transverse fracture with mildly comminuted patella fractures. All the patients were treated with open reduction and internal fixation using two parallel cannulated screws and 18G stainless steel wire as per the tension band principle.

Effect of spinal mobilization with arm movement in the treatment of Cervicobrachial pain syndrome

Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a pathology of the temporomandibular joint and / or of the muscles responsible for chewing. Its etiology is multifactorial, being the occlusal splint therapy a favorable application in the treatment of TMD. The stabilizing oclusal appliance, also called conventional or michigan miorrelaxing oclusal splint is the most used one, a removable device, usually made out of acrylic, which covers the surfaces of the teeth of an arch, creating a homogenous contact with the teeth of the opposite arch.

Low intensity plyometrics versus PNF stretching on vertical jump height and agility in collegiate basketball players

Background: Speed, jump, agility are important components in basketball. Lack of skills in a variety of directions and in an uncontrolled manner has been shown to predispose a person to several musculoskeletal injuries and significantly affect a person’s level of performance. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of PNF stretching and Low Intensity Plyometrics training for improving vertical jump height and agility. Method: 60 participants of college basketball players were allocated into two groups (30 participants in each group). The outcome measure used was SVJT and IA test.

Connective tissue graft for root coverage: clinical case report

Introduction: Gingival recessions constitute, by definition, displacement of the gingival margin apically to the amelocemental junction. The triggering factors are: traumatic brushing, inflammation, radicular hypersensitivity, unsightly appearance, non-carious cervical lesions, predisposition to root caries and etc. Objective: The objective of this study was to present the clinical sequence and the ideal surgical technique for the accomplishment of the connective tissue graft, improving the aesthetics and sensitivity reported by the patient, making the patient satisfied.

Therapeutic Effects of Kinesio Tape on A Grade-I Lateral Ankle Sprain in Athletes

Study Objectives: To determine if there are therapeutic effects of Kinesio tape on a grade I lateral ankle sprain, using an ASO as the control group. Design: comparative study. Setting: Subjects were taken from 9 different high schools in 2 sister counties Methods: All 25 subjects are athletes, who suffered a grade I lateral ankle sprain. 12 athletes were in the Kinesio tape group and 13 of the athletes were in the ASO brace group (control group).

An open labled study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of valiliv® capsules in the patients with viral hepatitis

Liver is a vital organ play a major role in metabolism and excretion of xenobiotics from the body. Liver cell injury is generally caused by various toxic chemicals (certain anti-biotic, chemotherapeutic agents, carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), thioacetamide (TAA) etc.), excessive alcohol consumption and microbes is well-studied. The available synthetic drugs to treat liver disorders in this condition also cause further damage to the liver. Hence, Herbal drugs have become increasingly popular and their use is wide-spread.

Effect of cell phone radiation on electronic apex locator

Establishment of accurate working length is very crucial for the success of endodontic therapy. With the advent of electronic apex locators, working length determination can be done without exposing the patient for X-ray radiation. These electronic apex locators can be affected by generation of electromagnetic interference by the cell phones radiation. Hence, the present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of cell phone radiation on electronic apex locator. A total no. of 30 patients with single rooted teeth with Type I anatomy indicated for root canal treatment were selected.

Left ventricular strain imaging in asymptomatic patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with or without hypertension

Background: Subclinical changes in LV function can be identified by quantifying myocardial strain. Early detection of diabetic heart disease is important for the timely interventions resulting in the prevention for the future development of heart failure. The aim of this study was to assess the ability of subtle differences in LV principal strains to characterize features of subclinical LV systolic dysfunction in patients with diabetes mellitus with or without systemic hypertension and apparently preserved LV systolic function.
