Self-perception of the quality of lify of chronic kidney patients in light of human needs theory

Chronic Kidney Disease - CKD is a worldwide public health problem, due to its high mortality rate. The multiple experiences and complications experienced by the chronic renal patient– CRP incite inquietudes around the understanding of Quality of Life - QL of those on hemodialysis treatment. Objective: To analyze the self-perception of QL related to health of CRP on hemodialysis, in the light Abraham Maslow's theory.

Structural decomposition analysis on employment changes in selected countries

The objective of this paper was to measure the drivers of the variation in employment and to make a comparative analysis of the results among 43 countries in the period 2000-2014. The methodology of Structural Decomposition Analysis was used to decompose the employment variation into four effects: intensity of labor use, technology, structure of final demand and volume of final demand.

Influence of treatment of recycled aggregate on the mechanical performance of concrete blocks

The environmental pollution and unrestrained consumption of natural resources have become the subject of research. In this context, the construction industry has been contributing, for example, with the reinsertion of construction and demolition waste (CDW) as aggregates in concrete. Thus, this research aimed to verify the influence of the treatment of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) on the mechanical performance of concrete blocks.

Computed tomographic detection of cracks after liquid nitrogen cryotherapy of root apexes

Este Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen (N2) has been effective to eliminate microorganisms such as Enterococcus faecalis, but its effects on dental tissues have not yet been well established. This in vitro study evaluated the formation of cracks in root apexes after cryotherapy. Forty uniradicular human teeth were endodonticall treated, resected (apicectomy), retroprepared and submitted to two 60-second freezing cycles with N2.

Desafios e perspectivas da enfermagem escolar

Os primeiros registros a respeito do trabalho de enfermagem no contexto escolar foram em 1910, quando foi criado o primeiro curso de Higiene Escolar na Faculdade de Medicina e Cirurgia de São Paulo. Foi a partir desse momento que a Educação em Saúde começou a ser reconhecida como uma ação contribuinte para a saúde dos escolares. Objetivou-se investigar os principais desafios enfrentados e as perspectivas da enfermagem escolar.

Atuação da enfermagem na prevenção da violência obstétrica: uma revisão de escopo

Objetivo: mapear as evidências científicas disponíveis sobre a atuação do enfermeiro na prevenção da violência obstétrica. Materiais e Métodos: trata-se de uma revisão de escopo, construída conforme recomendação do manual da Joanna Briggs Institute. O levantamento dos dados ocorreu entre maio e junho de 2021. Os dados foram processados no software gratuito IRaMuTeQ através do método Classificação Hierárquica Descendente. Resultados: 15 produções compuseram essa revisão de escopo e após o processamento do software resultaram dois eixos temáticos divididos em seis classes.

Incidence and factors associated with constipation in intensive care

Despite being a complication that is commonly identified in severe patients, constipation is not a frequent topic in intensive care journals. In Brazil, little is known about constipation in critically-ill adults. The objective of this study is to assess the incidence and factors associated with constipation in critically-ill patients by means of an integrative review conducted from 2016 to 2020 in the following databases: BVS, LILACS, SciELO and PUBMED.

Acupressure as a potentially effective strategy for reducing the intensity and length of labour pain

Introduction: Labor is a process that occurs in many types and unlike other acute and chronic pain, labor pain is not related to any disease or pathology. Stress and anxiety, prolonged labor, irregular heart rate in the fetus, increased caesarean section and a low Apgar score in the newborn are all complications of pain. Non-pharmacological applications can be performed independently by a midwife and a nurse in consultation with the pregnant woman. Acupressure is a non-invasive technique used to speed up labor, relieve pain, and shorten the time of delivery.

Development study of magistral cosmetic formulations containing 5% caffeine

This article refers to an approach to the development of semi-solid formulations containing 5% caffeine for the cosmetic treatment of cellulite. In a bench analysis proposal, five formulations were developed, three emulsions and two base gels that demonstrated when incorporating caffeine, the gels showed turbidity and to correct this problem it was necessary to add cosolvent.

Characterization of anemia and association with subclinical infection in children from rural areas of the northeast of Brazil

Anemia is the most prevalent nutritional deficiency worldwide.It is considered a public health problem that is related to iron and infectious process. This study aimed at characterizing anemia and relating it to subclinical infection in children under the age of five years old residing in rural areas of Teresina, in Piauí state. A subsample of 103 children from 6 to 59 months, from both sexeswas evaluated. In order to diagnose anemia, a concentration of hemoglobin was used, and children were considered anemic when the values were smaller than 11mg/dL.
