New N-(4-hydroxy phenyl) 3-nitro phthalimide (II) was synthesized from its amic acid (I) using soduim acetate – actic anhydride system as dehydrating agent, which was trarsfered to new ester(III) by the reaction with chloro ethyl acetate, (III) was used to prepare the new hydrazide derivative (IV), this hydrazide was allowed to react with different aldehydes to give their new Schiff-Base derivatives(the hydrazone) (V-IX). All the new compounds were characterized by their m.p., FTIR, C,H,N analysis and 1HNMR for some of them. Schem (1) shows the reaction steps used to prepare the proposed Schiff-Bases.
