The premise that deficits in social skills (HS) repertoires are predictive factors for behavior problems in schoolchildren is supported in the scientific literature. HS programs have been shown to be effective in maximizing protection factors for students' personal development and learning. This work is justified by the relevance of HS in personal development and in the influence on mental health and quality of life of adolescents. The objective of this research is to characterize the social skills of adolescents in a public school in a small municipality in the northern region of Ceará and to relate them to personal and contextual variables analyzed. 197 school adolescents participated, aged between 15 and 17 years (M = 16.21 SD = 0.768), 109 of whom were female and 88 were male. The frequency numbers show that women had the lowest percentages of the test, in addition to showing high anxiety and difficulty in developing healthy affective relationships, hence the need to implement actions aimed at developing skills of affective approach and social resourcefulness.
